Most of the players who reached the final table this year, come across as having such dull and bland personality's.
Its not good for the game.
Don't they realise they would benefit themselves more and the game if they came across as being interesting?
If the right person who was really extravagant and interesting won the main event, it could create another poker boom.

I understand what you are saying, from a marketing perspective. However, if I were at the final table, I would be dull and bland because I'm going to do whatever it takes to win the 8MM. I don't have Negreanu's personality so I'm not going to change just for tv with that much money at stake.

I think you are confusing politics with poker.

I have a bubbly personality...but final table scared me the 3 times I've been there...hands icy...no speech! Now, if you know me, hardly anything shuts me up!  It may be nerves or concentrating on winning or both! And some people don't even use the chat box on Final Table...it can mess up your thought processes & cost the game!:D

Phil Hellmuth and Mike Matusow are very entertaining personalities. It would have been great if one of them would have made the final table. Hopefully next year.

Personally I think poker already has too many extravagant personalities. There is a thin line between interesting and annoying.

Proof of my last comment. You call them entertaining. I call them obnoxious.

Jamie Gold had personality. And Hevad Kahn made the final table but didn't spark a poker boom.

Agree.. There was a Canadian tournament that was on the air (no knock against canada, I'm a canuck - it is what it is), and some old dude was wearing a FT jersey that he must have pulled from the online store. He was running around screaming, overusing the "ONE TIME" call, and just being a total jerk. Poker doesn't need people like that. Poker would probably benefit best from strictly competent professionals at the top of the game, with a few personalities to help grow the sport for non-players.

You cannot knock the results of Hellmuth, Matusow, Schwartz, TonyG et al.... They use their "table image" to their advantage.

I'm not knocking their results. I'm saying I find them unpleasant to watch.

I agree completely. Why watch poker on TV when it is dominated by boredom?

It's another thing if I want a video poker lesson. In this case, theachers with charismatic personalities can even lead to disprofit.
