I learned quite a bit online sites. But I think that is not enough to know a lot of luck to the poker. Many times I lost a pair of AA or KK.

No it isn't enough indeed, you can study forexample calculating the odds and EV. How much you have to raise in what situations against what kind of players. All that kind of stuff. I have to say that a lot of these things can be learned fastest in tourments them self. Or sit and goes, depands on what kind of player you want to become.

If you have A LOT of time and you are really in to it, you can also try to study the % off all kind of hand combinations. High pocket against lower pocket, straight draw against flush draw. straightdraw against pocket pair. I could write this hole page down with all kind of combinations. This is great to study for making the right choiches. But above all these studies practise is even that important. In the beginning it will cost you money but after some time it all will go much better. This can take a few weeks, but also years. Depands on how fast and how good you can study and see all kind of patterns in peoples actions.

Good luck in your training!

We need is a lot of patience in these poker sites where terrible plays are winning most of the times. Almost always I wonder if the algorithm of this softwares give privilege to the best players or the weakest.

Big hug to all

I was told before, If you made the right decision, in poker world that is plus EV. Not quite sure a 100% got it yet. What they are implying is, if you keep making right decision you will eventually come up ahead. You will loose pot here & there. In the end it is the right one one.

Here I want chip up in the early part of the tourney. I can't beat myself for loosing but just look ahead, on same situation I'll do it over & over & over again. :)

poker a sport or a game of chance ?

Cardschat a friend asked if it takes more knowledge in poker or a game of chance , I wonder , poker would not be a game of chance, because it has the ability , however, much has luck too. gambling is one where more people lose than win, so it is called gambling . most have bad luck while only a few are lucky .

Poker is a ever evolving machine. The minute you think you completely understand the game is the same minute everything changes. All i can suggest is that you keep studying the game and watch for trends. You should also study your own game and try to improve. If the game was just simple as playing AA and KK we all would be rich :)

Some people play poker to gamble, but good players play poker to play poker.

Learning is very important, try to take away something from every hand.

I learned quite a bit online sites. But I think that is not enough to know a lot of luck to the poker. Many times I lost a pair of AA or KK.

Shit happens. I lost 10 biy-ins last month after getting it in good every time with two exceptions: made a Full that ran into quads, and a flopped flush that ran into a K-high flush, and even then I wasn't completely dead since I could have beat the quads by catching a higher card, and with the flush I was open on both ends for the straight flush. Every other time I GII good and some fish would make some horrendous call and bink on the river. There's nothing you can do about that other than stay off tilt and not blow off even more. This month, it's come back time. Make +EV plays, and you will eventually come out ahead.

As for your complaint about losing with AA or KK, are you sure you're not making the classic mistake of over playing these hands? It's nice to start off with pocket aces or kings; it's wonderful to start off with AK and see an ace or king on the flop. However, certain flops can turn these hands into very marginal holdings. Start with pocket cowboys, ace hits, and the vill doesn't seem to want to co-operate and let you keep that pot small, but indicates he wants to play for stacks. Do you accommodate him, or let the hand go?

Aces, kings, TPTK aren't a "till death do us part" proposition, and you can't marry them. If you think you're beat, into the muck they go. It's fish who can't turn a big hand like that loose once it's obvious they're beat.

If you're certain you're not making that mistake, and are satisfied you made the right play, the +EV play, then that's it. Suck it up, stay off tilt, make the right play regardless of outcome, and you will get their money. Sometimes, you just have to wait until they empty their Luck Boxes.

I thought I was 'good' at poker and knew the game well until I started playing multiple tournaments daily in an attempt to see how good I can be and whether or not playing professionally might be possible.

I've quickly realised how much I have to learn and improve to stand any chance of profiting, but I have also learned a hell of a lot and my game has improved tenfold.

I think the better you get the more of the chance element you can remove from the game, but it will always be there!
