have a problem now that I need to sort out but I thought I would pass onto you.

I recently signed up for a site on the net. And deposited straight away. THey were perfectly happy to let me deposit.
I then set about playing and withing 48 hours I had doubled my deposit playing ring games.

I didnt try and withdraw, I didnt ask for any bonuses.
This morning I tried to log on and it told me my account had been suspended and gave me a number to ring. WHich I duly rang. THe woman on the phone told me they needed to verify my details and I need to send them copies of credit cards, household bills, passport and proof of address.

Now I can understand them needing to confirm my identity. My problem is this..

Surely they should have confirmed my identity BEFORE they let me deposit and play. They have taken rake from me, they even charged me commision on what I deposited.

Now I have given them the money, and they've made a buck or two from me, they decide they want this information, and my money is now frozen until I give them what they want. I cannot access it whatsoever.

I dont mind giving the info they want, but surely they should ask for it BEFORE allowing me to put money into the account and playing on the game. Supposing I was a fraudster and the money wasnt legitimate. What are they going to do. Refund all the players I took money from ? No of course not. They are going to keep it themselves...

Anyone else had experiences like this. For me, they shouldnt let you deposit and play until they have clarified all they need. To let you deposit, let you play, then decide to freeze your account because they didnt do the right checks in the first place seems totally arse about face to me

betfair

Yes its a large established firm, but if I cant trust them to get their registration right I sure as hell am not going to give them what they want which is :-

A copy of my credit card
A copy of my passport / birth certificate
Proof of address
Bank details

The more I think about it, the more inclined I am to tell them to shove it and keep the money

I was pissed when Cake Poker first asked me to do this when I wanted to withdraw.... but I sent them the info and got my cheque soon after.

It sucks, but I think it was....tenbob... he told me that most of the good poker websites now require this standard check to basically legitly prove that you are a real person with a real address, and not underage etc.

You will encounter this at pretty much every website to withdraw from. Hmmm I withdrew $500 a few times from pokerstars and they never asked for it though, Stars is the only website I know that does not seem to require this however.

NEVER, I REPEAT NEVER, give out your personal information to any poker site ever. Any site that ask for or that requires such informtation is not a legitimate site to play at.

I hate giving numbers, bank info, any of that stuff to anyone. I guess if I had to give card info like that I would just use a prepaid, cause I'm paranoid, I've already had my business debit card duplicated somehow and used at a friggin best buy somewhere in Indiana. Got me for like 1700 bucks. Anyway I found that the e wallet thing seems pretty good...dont know about withdrawls yet though(havent done that yet) but when I deposited an amount, to verify I had to wait for it to clear my bank in which they only withdrawl a percentage first and I had to contact them and let them know how much they took. I was happy with their procedure. But passport, Birth certificate, household bills...that seems way to hokey for me.

Everysite i've played at asks for some information/proof of who you are. They should only be asking for a bank statement if your doing direct deposit they would need your bank account # and the routing #. If you want a check then a copy of your DL and a copy of like a gas or elec bill will be needed. Thats normal. A SS card # NO don't give that out. They probably said passport because its a form of i.d. I wouldnt tell them to shove it just yet check to see if they are involved with the kawnakee gaming board if they are than they can be trusted.
