I just read a release form bodog that they were severing ties with jamie Gold. Their official reason was that they where changing their plan and going after more European players. Sounds to me like a step or 2 before pulling out of the US.

It wouldn't surprise me if that happened. If we do start having private cardrooms like joosebuck suggested, think of the money they will make! I should start my own.

I highly doubt it. Not only is 90% of their revenue from their SportsBook, but the majority of those bets are on American sports such as the NFL. If Bodog were to withdraw from the US market they would essentially be crushed and I can't see that happening. As I've said before, the top execs at Bodog like Calvin Ayre have been more than happy to avoid the US for this long, why stop now? In fact, Calvin actually can only travel to very very few countries in the world (one of them being Vietnam) because the rest have treaties with the US.

If you think about it, if Calvin was to drop US players now - it would not help his situation at all, he is still "wanted" in the US and will continue to be for the rest of his life.

If this does happen. I was thinking, when would they do it. Of course they will wait until AFTER the superbowl on Sunday, cause they are a sportsbook also.

I have some points on there, wasn't there a way to cash them out for money?? If anyone remembers that let me know. It's probably over by now though.

Isn't it more about the banks? Wouldn't Calvin have to cut US players if the banks refused to do business with him if he didn't?

Hrrm it's a good point but I highly doubt Bodog's bank accounts are with any bank with US ties. I'd guess they were with a Canadian bank in which case the US really can't do anything to them except for stop processing payments from/to the end user.

I'd drop Jamie Gold, but I don't see how they could. He should have signed a contract for a year or two...

Bodog wouldnt surely break any word with Jamie Gold would they ?

Its not like Jamie would ever bend or break his word.....oh yeah, that court case lol :)

...and Bingo was his name-0. I'd be suprised if it was true though, because they only have Arieh and Williams...and some asian chick left to promote them. I would think a wsop Main Event winner makes a company money whether he's a huge ass or not, unless it's Varkonyi or someone who's unmarketable. Mcevoy is at Stars and he didn't do anything for 20 years until he finally made it in the money in the Main in '06...

That just aint going to happen

Bodog kept all their big name stars. The ones who play poker and who are well respected, and who arent extremely bad for the company's PR.

What concerned me was not dropping Jamie Gold, I could care less about that, it was their saying the were going to have a stronger European presence or words to that effect. That just seems like code to me that if they are trying to get enough non-US players to offset loses if they decide to drop US players. Why do that if that;s not in your thinking somewhere. Other sites like party poker did the exact same thing.

I'm just throwing it out there, I don't "know" one way or the other.

Bodog

I think Bodog might go down in the US-its tough getting funds on their web site.

Uh, that would be Evelyn Ng. And if you ever see Evelyn in person, you'd no longer refer to her as "some asian chick".
Uh...why's that smd?

Cause 'some Asian chick's sounds a little sexist and racist? :D That'll make Johnny chan some Asian bloke.
I didn't mean "chick" in any offensive derogatory way. As for her being asian, I'm pretty sure part of her is, but she's from canada, obviously not Asia. I apologize if I offended anyone.

No worries wsorbust. I'm sure you didn't mean it. I myself have offended a large amount of ladies with the b word. I didn't mean it too, I was using that word against another bloke who just sucked out on me on the river. Jokingly used it on the guy and a lady at the table got offended at the table. My bad. :p

Anyway, with 12 million in my pocket, I wouldn't care even if I'm banned from poker for the rest of my life. I'd just invest a third of it and spend the rest. :D
