Did everyone notice the VIP status now displayed on players on Stars?

What do you think, more information is good IMO. Is there a way to opt out of having that info displayed on your icon?

If you click on the symbol saying "My VIP Status" in the main window of Stars, you can set this to work basically any way you like. And yes, you get to decide if you want the information available or not.

Thing is....I'm a bronze star...and it means NOTHING, I cannot win an MTT, I can usually cash. I cannot consistantly win cash games, but I can usually hold my own....SnGs the same way.....I can cash in 3 or 4, then forget what BRM is.

On the other hand....how many people play 4 5 dollar SnGs at a time and only cash in one of them?? Those people are getting stars and pfft....I just don't think that stars really tell you how good someone is. I also think most really good players will keep them turned off because....more information is good....:)

I could see it working both for and against you. There would be some amount of intimidation if it marked you as a successful player resulting in some of your hands not being called. But there is also the possibility that some people might come gunning for you. a target as it were. My opinion is the less information you give the better unless its misleading.

You don't get VIP stars for winning, you get them according to how much you feed the rake, win or lose. You can 'buy' a gold star by donking out of ring games for a month, if you really want one. Most people with advanced VIP status are competent players tho, who play at higher limits.

ultimately i think it's going to be irrelevant. If it happens to be some sort of a tell I think it's going to be too hard to figure out what it's a tell of for each person individually.

Personally? Mine is hidden and will stay that way.

As a corollary I have already seen people daring each other to "show their status" in some sort of fight to "prove" who is "better". Thought that was amusing.
