Just got back from my bi-annual trip back home to the Midwest, USA. I live in Europe where the poker craze is still in its infancy.

3 years ago, I came back to find a racehorse track had been built in my hometown!

2 years ago, I found that they had added slot machines!

Last year, they had roulette tables and blackjack (video only).

And lo and behold this year, ring games of NLHE!

The laws in me ex-state only allow video gaming, so the poker games all consist of people sitting around a table with their own video monitor - kinda a live/online hybrid. The tables were all $1/$2 with buy-ins from $100-$300.

I had only brought 50 bucks with me as a precaution, but next time.....

My question is, has anyone tried these video poker ring games in a casino?
I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions!

One good thing seems to be that there is no pressure to tip a computer dealer!

You see a lot of video gaming in canada. Not a lot of fun, but they are a money magnet.

Hmm...afterall, you're still playing with a computer...When it comes to poker, I prefer playing with other people.

I played at the Pokertek tables in Cherokee, NC and like it.

Everyone has their own screen with the flop showing on a screen in the center of the table. All betting is through the touch screen.

We got in around 35-40 hands an hour which is very good for live poker (I have played live where there was less than 25 hands an hour). I like the tables, and like you said no tipping.

You need to spend every possible second improving your game!!!! Do you have any idea what kind of opportunity you have? If poker is still in its infancy, you need to make as much money as you can before all the suckers start to get better.
