First post - bit concerned as i signed up for ultimatebet.com deposited my money with the intention of playing poker on my mobile phone. Realised i didnt like the range of tables and wanted to withdraw my money.

1. Firstly i am unable to retrieve my money by the same method i deposited it

2. I will incur a charge to cash a cheque as i am a UK resident

After requesting this cheque i am now subject to a security check and need to provide photo id and my card by fax. I have no photo id and do not want to fax my card details i'm happy to talk on the phone to confirm who i am.

Has anyone experienced something like this or know how i can get my money back?

Thanks in advance

You could explain to them that you dont have the means to give them what they requested but that you are willing to go through whatever other security measures they have in place. Contacting them and showing them you are willing to do what they want should help.Good luck.

Titan gave me all the same crap when I tried to cash out there. It's just a delaying tactic. I ended up blowing all the money on their casino instead, which is probably what's supposed to happen.

Photo ID sounds ridiculous though. How do they know what you look like?

hi mojo

I asked for a contact number so I could discuss this with them and answer any security questions but they refused saying they will only discuss this further after I send the fax documents.

I have asked my bank for advice - because im concerned about sending photo id address and card details all in one fax - im just arming someone with all the details necessary for fraud if they make one photo copy of this document.

I should have stuck to my regular sites lol

Hi tiltboy thanks for the update. After thinking about this i realized that they already have all of your card details from when you made your deposit so from that point of view you wont be sending them any sensitive information they dont already have. They already have your name and address and e-mail stored on their data base too. So all they are really asking for that they dont already have is a photo id of you. I know it all seems a bit much of a request and that you have worries about sending what they want but it might be your only option if you want your money back. And remember the only extra thing they want from you is faxed id which nobody would be able to duplicate because it would be on faxing paper and not the original document. Bite the bullet on this one and give the fools what they want. Good luck.

Ultimate Bet (along with Absolute Poker and party poker) let you deposit $25, but their minimum withdrawal is $50!? I'd avoid all 3.

I played on their site yesterday (I know - I know I just got bored) won $24 and they locked my account. They werent happy with me using the account whilst the security check is pending. I asked them why they didn’t do this before and they told me that I hadnt tried to access my account so it wasn’t an issue then.
so i will fax over the necesssary details once they give me the correct fax number which I am waiting on, it just seems like a lot of hassle for a site that is definitely not suited for users outside the US due to the limited range of withdrawal options. Shame - because i hear the game engine is pretty good there.

I really used to like Ub, I keep it in case we have CC events there.... but the fact that they actually put Rochambo on their site gives me serious concerns....what's next War?

If that's the case, I agree. That's a pretty low tactic.

UB seems to be less user friendly of late. I had a brief run-in with their customer support last night, and discovered that their phone contact is now the number for Absolute.

Those numbers are not international. To dial most US numbers you have to put a 001 in front of it - don't know if that works with toll free numbers or not.

Hey tiltboy fire off another e-mail to them mentioning that you have been discussing it at many poker forums. Nothing nasty or threatening but enough to hint that you are spreading the word around about how you feel treated. Slip something like this in the middle of a regular mail you would send them any way........" people at the 4 poker forums i use think it is a terrible situation ".....you know the kind of stuff i mean. Its worth a shot. Good luck.

Sent them my documents and they don’t wanna respond to me anymore - im losing patience with these people. They act like a backstreet company (they don’t even have a contact line!!!)

I'd seriously advise anyone to avoid this site

this is standard to avoid CC fraud and chargebacks.

they won't let you play now because they don't want you losing it or chip dumping.

send them the info. how do you get through life with a valid photo ID? Are you underage?

if you will probably have to contact your credit card company.

I have played on UB since 2003 and taken out thousands of dollars.

I have sent my details, did this last week they said they recieved it and will get back to me once they run their checks.

I have never known an organisation to want credit card, photo id and address details all together.

I will cancel my card straight after (as my bank advised if i do send all this info).

Beavis - i dont know how it is in the U.S but i have very rarely had to use photo id to be honest. I had my drivers license stolen and my passport expired so i had to renew both of these to complete this process. I just dont like the fact i can pay one way but cant withdraw by the same method which would seem more secure considering they're so hot on this issue.

Funny story - I have had my photo id's, cards verified.
So I have now gone to cash out, I get a rejection so I mail them to ask why and they tell me that I made my withdrawal soon after cashing in so they need to investigate. I thought the whole point of my photo id and card details would be the only security issue.
I am screwed, if this was U.K at least the legal side of this would be easy to access or if I lived in U.S but they are taking advantage of my location and trying to rip me off.
Pathetic organisation - sorry for the rant im just p*ssed at this pathetic site (UB that is)

I would say you have made your point tiltboy. I was never much of a fan of UB, and do not think they have a good game engine. Maybe for cellphones they do.

When I investigated where I would put my money UB didn't even make the list.

Perhaps the recent departure of their online pros was a clue.

But it is your duty to pursue this. If only for 1/2 hour perday. Don't relent.

Is there anyone who has had simlar experience so they can advise me on what i can do legally against an online organisation.

Ultimate Bet have completed their security checks i recieved an email saying that my account has been updated. I recieved this email yesterday after asking why my withdrawal was refused

Thank you for contacting us. The reason for the cancellation of your recent requests for withdrawal is because you are attempting to withdraw funds to an account other than the one used for deposit.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused but these security procedures are implemented in efforts to minimize the potential for fraudulent activity and protect our customers.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require further assistance or additional information.

Best regards,

I have requested to recieve a cheque by post to the registered address so this doesnt make sense. They have basically been sending me inaccurate responses in an attempt to get me to spend my money.

Apologies for seeming like i am going on but $300 is a lot to me especially when it is being witheld.

I would really appreciate some advice on this.

Tiltboy i feel for you, your only option is to withdraw in whatever way ub want you too. Agree to whatever they say and get it done, they have messed you around for to long now. Find out how they will allow you to withdraw and do it, and never go back. Best of luck.

Got my money back. Had to copy in the email of someone associated with a site that carries out reviews for online poker sites.

They told me i had to spend 1/3 of my money because i was treating the site as a banking facility by depositing money and not spending enough.

They even paid the money back onto my card (which they say is not possible).

I shall talk on this subject no more.

Thanks for the support Mojo :)

Thanks for the update tiltboy im glad you got your money back ( at long last ) From the start you told them your reasons for wanting the money back and they just messed you around hoping you would give up trying and start spending. You got your way in the end after endless trying, well done, just remember what to expect in future from these type of sites and deposit wisely. Good luck.

sites have to pay money for transfers, so they don't like being treated like a bank. If you aren't going to play, don't deposit. No site I know of will refund back to a credit card as a normal way of doing things.

UB is one of my favorite sites but withdrawals can be slow (at least it was one of my favs before they changed the point system.
