I won a couple bucks in a CC freeroll, so I played some microstakes PL Holdem on Ultimate Bet. It seems like there was a freakish amount of good hands.

In 21 hands, for winning hands there were:
4 boats
3 flushes
2 straights
2 sets

That's a monster hand more than 50% of the time. Not to mention that there was set over set twice and straight over straight once.

Small sample, variance, wierd stuff happens, no proof, yadda yadda...

I just think it's very strange, and worth noting.

That's what happens when everybody gets to see the flop, which is typical of micro PLHE.

Move up in stakes if this troubles you. People tend to fold more preflop when it costs more than $0.02 to see it.

I went to the hand history and counted. Over those 21 hands, 94 people saw the flop, which averages out to about 4.5 people seeing the flop per hand. That's a bit high, but hardly accounts for this odd number of monster hands.

At one of the casinos I play at, they have a high hand of the night jackpot. They take $1 from every pot and at midnight, it gets awarded to whoever had the highest hand. In one night ( 6 hours, roughly 200 hands) it went from J's full of T's, to K's full of 8's, to K's full of Q's, to A's full of T's, to quad 9's, to quad A's, then on the very last hand before midnight, a guy made a 9 high straight flush.

Moral of the story, these things happen. Statistically, they have to happen. Eventually somewhere on some table there's gonna be 5 royal flushes dealt in succession, some guy is gonna get dealt AA 10 hands in a row, and someone is gonna lose with quads on back to back hands. It happens.

If this is FR, that means the average vpip of the table is 50%. That's not only a bit high, that's extremely high. When that many people see the flop a pair is rarely good. When everyone with any suited, connected, or paired cards see the flop and don't fold, there will be a lot of flushes, straights, and sets/boats. I mean really, out of the 21 hands only 2 did not reach showdown. That's pretty crazy as well. At more reasonable limits the flop only gets dealt under half the time, let alone actually making it to showdown.

And as mentioned you won a sizable pot with pair of 3's. Assuming it was someone chasing a draw that whiffed? I'd also like to see the HH, maybe you had a pair and a draw?

No, just my small stack with a pocket pair on the SB raising out limpers. The big stack BB put me on a steal, and raised. I figured he had an ace, and when no ace came on the flop, I called his cbet, all-in.

Yeah, he might have had a big pair and bet the same way, but he had also played A5 and A9 in ten hands since he sat down.

I hate ultimate bet. I used to like it a lot and then the cheating scandals and they pretty much stiffed my friend for like 2k. i will play freerolls there and work it up to the min cashout and then cash it out and deposit it elsewhere. F UB
