I was orignally considering buying a low end pedestal type table, but im not sure i want to spend the $500+. A folding table would be alright but are they really sturdy? Seems like they would be flimsy. Anyone have some info or good tables to look at? Or should I just stick with a pedestal?

Make sure it has enough room for the amount of players you're expecting. Nothing worse than going to a game and sitting in someone's lap. Also make sure it has felt that's not gonna pull up. May cost you a little more but it'll last.

Depends what you mean by folding I guess - folding legs, or one of the tables that folds in the middle?

Personally I hate the ones that fold in the middle. There's a join in the table right where you go to spread the flop, and from experience unless there's some kind of sturdy cross bar underneath them they can be a bit flimsy at the join.

Ones with a solid top and folding legs can vary so just check them before you buy, you should be able to find a sturdy one.

If you're feeling adventurous though, you could try making your own. I know a few people that have done it and ended up with a better table for less money than they would've spent buying one.
