So I made final table at a local pub poker game, blinds are 2000/4000 I'm big blind and only small blind has called. The small blind is relativaly small stack so I put her all in with my Ace/three of hearts .. she calls with two/four diamonds .. flop, turn and river comes king/two/six/jack/eight .. the two on the flop was a two off diamonds. So we been playing the whole game with five twos in the deck!!!!! :(... I claimed it was a bum deal and the cards should be checked and we should split the pot but that never happened .. my head went and she went on to win .. anyone know anywhere where there is a rule about this? .. thanks

the actual rule is: Once substantial action occurs, a misdeal cannot be declared, the hand must proceed.
So, since nothing was said on the flop, hand continues as normal, then the deck needs to be fixed... I mean normally this would never happen in a casino or sanctioned tourney, since they use new decks, checked and washed prior to use. But seeing as it's in a bar, I would imagine they have their own rules, as shady as that can be....

That happened at a MTT put on by one of our local American Legion Halls. We had played just over an hour when a woman at our table had a royal flush............with 2 kings of diamonds. The hand stood here also. I was just glad I didn't play that hand.:D:D

I have to admit I wouldn't have known what to do in this spot. I'm glad I read this thread. Just one of those things, I suppose, but it sure would have been an embarrassing situation for the host.

I usually ask when tables split up if we can get a new deck or at least a first hand count.. people try to cheat so I at least ask and it is for the most part granted.

the actual rule is: Once substantial action occurs, a misdeal cannot be declared, the hand must proceed.

While that's generally true, this situation is considered an "irregularity", not a simple misdeal.

Here's the rules from the Irregularities section of Robert's Rules of Poker:

4. If two cards of the same rank and suit are found, all action is void, and all chips in the pot are returned to the players
who wagered them (subject to next rule).
5. A player who knows the deck is defective has an obligation to point this out. If such a player instead tries to win a pot
by taking aggressive action (trying for a freeroll), the player may lose the right to a refund, and the chips may be
required to stay in the pot for the next deal.

So void the pot, refund everyone's chips and then start the hand over with a corrected deck would be the procedure.

.. wsop rules state "when it is discovered that there are 2 cards in the deck of the same rank and suit, everything is declared dead and players' funds are returned to them.
, it's in the dead hands section under irregularities.

Those rules from Robert's Rules of Poker sound legit, I guess thats the best for all participants in that situation.

yea it ould depend on house rules because there are multitudes of ways this rule can be advantagous for somtimes its a bum deal and chips are returned and decks are sitch or they consider the action valid and you lose or in depending on what cards you have, i hate that way because its bs 2 of the same cards in a deck is a fraud deck and shouldent be valid for either player to win because of it

1° You are in a public place (I believe play at home or a bar), cheating may occur. 2° Play with friends you trust. 3° Poker houses are good too. In my country I play in one that has cash games and tournaments, and decks are shown all the cards at the beginning of the game or tournament. It's very nice!!
