Tropical offically launched today, and when i checked my balance after "activating" my cashier account, all the money that i won was in my "Available" balance. i thought this was a little odd, as when i logged in yesterday it had only 10% available and the rest in a bonus account (pending release), as i had heard they were going to do. Before i contact support, in case it's a mistake, I thought i'd see if the same thing was going on for everyone else. Does anyone know what their official policy is?

Okay, if i had waited 15 minutes to post this, my question would have been answered. i just got an email from them saying all the money you won will be put into play. there are restrictions for withdrawl, but still, very nice. Now if only they'd get some tournaments going..

They are open, you need to collect 100 points to cash out $10 of the money you won during beta testing. I have $115 so I need to get 1100 points before I can cash it out.

Anyone here figure out what you need to get the points yet? I tried looking on the webpages but did not see anything close to an answer.

Chuck: You have to "Activate" your account by confirming your name and address. I did it by clicking on the "transactions" button in the cashier window and it took me to their web site.

t1riel: it's not a prima skin. it's a new site or an old one that's reopening. they had been doing beta test freerolls for months and now have opened. feel free to check it out, but i'm not sure if it's worth it now that they're not giving away free money anymore.

same as pokerstars i think. i found this on their web page:

One (1) point is awarded for playing in a raked game where the rake reaches:

  • $0.50 for fixed limit games with stakes $0.50 / $1.00 and lower
  • $0.75 for fixed limit games with stakes $1 / $2
  • $1.00 for pot limit games, no limit games and fixed limit games with stakes $2 / $4 and higher
Points Earned for Tournament Play
  • Five (5) points are awarded for each $1 in tournament fees paid.
  • Ten (10) points are awarded in a tournament with $20 buy-in and $2 tournament fee.
  • In a $5 buy-in Sit & Go tournament with only a $0.50 fee, 3 FPPs (instead of 2.5) will be awarded to each player in the tournament

So far Tropical doesn't look that impressive. One question is whether they'll be responsive to requests for things like Limit Omaha and 7 Card Stud tables (currently they only have No Limit or Pot Limit Omaha and 7 Stud).
I've got a few dollars on there, which I'll have to have a play with on there at some point, but they will really need to run some freerolls or the like now they've gone live to get some more people on there - at the moment there doesn't seem to be much reason to play on there, except if you played in the beta freerolls and earned a few dollars which you can't cash out yet.

Right now it will be a big gamling fest for all the people who played during the beta testing. I am sure they will keep up the freerolls to try and get more people there. It will take some time to get people there to deposit and start playing.

they actually do have Hi/lo for both omaha and stud, plus they have 5 card stud. both hi and hi/lo omaha are listed under the same catagory, then there are sub catagories for the specific games. It's sort of a moot point at the moment as no one is plaing these games.

one thing that i found amusing was they had a $5 tournament last night that was called off because it didn't get enough players. they had set it up to pay out to the top 30 and apparently their software can not adjust the payout structure to fit the number of players they have signed up. I mean, to pay out 30 you generally need between 200 and 300, so unless they change things it might take them awhile to get any real tournaments running. they have another one tonight and i'll be curious to see if it gets run.

Well,

If the freerolls are any indication they don't seem to being to bad as far as having people wanting to play the freerolls. That's how many sites got there starts. Tonight's freeroll had 276 people. I came in 22. Made me all of 40 cents. I went all in with AJ suited and came up against Q10 suited. boarded paired the Q and I was history. I should have folded. :motz:

Actually, the complaint wasn't about not having High/Low - I know they have that... the problem is only having No Limit and Pot Limit, when I pretty much only play Limit Omaha and Omaha High/Low - I've emailed their support to say that they don't have any limit tables, so we'll see if they add any. But it is still moot when there is nobody playing on them - they probably need to pay some people to start up tables, like other sites do, but they don't seem to have figured things like that out yet. (Like launching WITHOUT an affiliate scheme or other ways to attract potential customers)

Well, clearly they haven't figured everything out. I noticed last night that all they have is NL 5 card stud for their stud games, and they still can't figure out how to run a tournament. I can't figure out if i like playing there or not, as the people at the ring games still play like it's with play money.

In an effort (i must assume) to spark interest, Tropical is running relativly large freerolls this week, increasing up to $500. I'm starting to wonder if they'll ever get going to the point that they're ever running more then freerolls regularly...

It's got to be the only site where I've logged on and seen precisely zero players sitting at tables... and the freerolls are in the small hours of the morning for me, so they're hopeless to me.

Originally I was really frustrated with how this was all panning out. I have been able to withdraw some winnings (after beta) but don't see myself every getting the "frequent player points" to cash out the beta winnings. I am guessing there is a time limit on that anyway.

Now I can use my fpp to enroll in qualifying sng and mtts for main events each week and at the end of the month. This may be the only thing that keeps me on this site.

I have recently signed up to Tropical poker, the traffic is a little thin, but too be expected from a new site.

I have to say i was impressed by the software and the lobby is soo easy to navigate through....

I see they have added heads up to there list of games...

Also have been playing in the tournaments that they have to offer, and have accumulated a decent bankroll,( for me any way!) of which i have to say, has been cashed out( in mega quick time) and hassle free unlike a lot of sites out there!! :D

There are alot worse sites out there, so i think i will be playing here for a while as the standard of play is varied and guaranteed to get a ''good game'' but as i said before, trafic is thin, but hopefully as it progresses so with the member base.

In my opinion a good site, it definatley deserves thumbs up!!
