$250 freeroll at Tropical in a half an hour with less that 250 people as of writing this. I've been getting beat up tonight so I think I'll give this free one a try.

I like it overall, but with the beta testing it is alittle hard to tell what it will be like when fully running in a couple of weeks. The next couple weeks the freerolls are going to get higher and higher stakes till they open in March.

LIKES
-Speed of play is good
-Along the bottom it will remind you what hole cards you had after you fold (love that). Especially if you play at several tables at once.
-You can change the color behind the name of people. I did this to remind me of overall playing style (red-aggressive blue-passive green-caller etc.) It remembers this between sessions which is agreat idea.
-fishing is good so far
-lots of CC players have played there since we have 7 or 8 threads about this site so far. We have been good press for them. LOL

DISLIKES
-takes some time to get use to look for other players hole card and seeing how many people are in a hand. Cards are half hidden behind name plate.
-table features are VERY basic. Only has chat feature. No quick stats to peek at the bottom or other info like at PS and some other sites.
-tournament home page HAS to be up to be seated at your table. For each tournament the you have to have your table and the tournament page. If you run two tournaments at once you actually have 5 windows up. Some reason that bugs me

I do believe this site is going to have some easy pickings when they first start up. With all the freeroll money they been handing out, only 10% of that goes into play. The other 90% will have to be earned like a bonus so I think you will see a lot of people very reckless with their free money trying to earn some more free money. I just hope it's not a nightmare trying to cash out when they get going.

I have not seen much of anything about the millions that they must have given away by now and what it will take to clear it. I am signed up for the newletters etc. Where did you hear that?

I just came from there and am still in shock.
I know its a freeroll and i know they are beta testing.
My issue is not with the site but the 2 brainless idiots i just got involved with.
I am still shaking my head as i type.

$250 freeroll
261 runners
1500 chips per runner

Very first hand of the tourny
Blinds10/20
I am dealt pocket Queens in the small blind.
4 players limp in.
Big blind is sitting out
I raise 190
2 players fold
Late position calls
Dealer button calls

I am liking this so far.

Flop comes 2hearts.....5clubs......10spades

I am liking this so far
Its almost perfect if not already perfect

I bet 720
Late position goes all in for 1310
Dealer button calls all in

I figure ( even in a freeroll ) i must be in good shape
I mean what out there is likely to be beating me apart from AA KK TT 55 or 22
The betting pattern didnt indicate to me that AA or KK was out there but for a nanosecond i did consider a limper with TT 55 or 22

So i promptly called
I was amazed but also very pleased to see..............
Late position with Ace hearts and 2 clubs
Dealer button with Queen-three diamonds

So at this point im up against bottom pair and queen high, and my overpair ladies are starting to look like godesses.

I am in amazement at what these 2 players think they are trying to do.
I understand this is a freeroll and that you are not going to be up against the sharpest pencils in the case, but i have played many freerolls and believe me, some are as tough if not tougher than a pay to play tourny.

So then the turn comes

10 hearts

Still happy days.....

and of course the river is....Ace spades, and i am sent packing.

Finishing in the proud position of 257th out of 261

I had only downloaded and registered at the site 20 minutes prior to this festival of shocking play, and am not sure if im brave enough to go back there as this finish is my lowest ever.

I have played many $20/$25/$30 freerolls at other sites and have never witnessed such terrible play.
This was for $250 and 1st paid $125 so i was expecting some very tough opponents.
Well i certainly got that LMAO

The guy who won must be of the ilk, any ace and i play.
Any raise and i call.
Hit any part of the flop and i go all-in.

We can all remember our first nervous steps into the big bad world that is online poker, but in all honesty can any of you say that you made those kind of plays in your first months/weeks/days even.

I have stopped shaking my head in wonderment now as i am finding this rant very helpful in easing my pain.

So i guess the lesson to be learned from this experience is that you can rely on the stupidity of some poker players some of the time, but you can ALWAYS rely on the invention of cardschat to release those demons and start to feel better about yourself after a good old rant.

don't be too discouraged. it's idiots like that that have allowed most of us to build up our bankrolls there.

btw, i'm still in tonight's $250 freeroll. 15k in chips and 70 some left.

I tried to download the site but I had some problems and can't play there I sure would love to join the site.

The error was a run time error and I don't know what that means but it won't let me play. :(

no idea what that means either. you may want to try emailing their support.

and i just wanted to thank my cheering section at the final table of the $250 freeroll tonight. went out 4th. broke my general strategy of playing tight at final tables there, but kind of had to, blinds were getting huge. anyway, thanks again. it was very helpful.

thanks.

i must say, these are really some pretty easy freerolls. There aren't as many sitters as there used to me, but they still go pretty quickly, and it's pretty easy to build up a decent chip stack (or get knocked out due to a horrible beat) in the early stages due to the extreemly loose play. They're usually down to the final table with in two hours, and while they're definatly the easiest final tables to make that i've ever found (at the very least i've made quite a few of them, and i'm nothing that special) the play at the final tables is always pretty good, and really enjoyable, though final tables are always like that. So if nothing else they're good final table practice. Plus they pay out to the top 10 now (had only been the top 5). they were doing $10 freerolls where first place got only five bucks, which were kind of pointless, but these bigger ones are pretty sweet. anyway, i've went on about this a heck of a lot longer then i intended to. My point is simply that they're good freerolls to play if you're interested in that sort of thing, and the more i've played there, the more i've enjoyed their interface, so it's very worth while. How's that for a shinning endorsement Mr. Tropical Poker? ;) . Final tables always put me in a good mood.

WTG nate, very good showing.
I will have to revisit now that the shock tablets have kicked in.
I play tight in these things for the first couple of levels but might fold the nuts pre-flop, and the nuts pre-turn from now on just so i can last longer than 4th bottom.

Once again, great job tonight, Cardschat cash in again.

I just had to share this, as i thought it was quite amusing. I registered for the $25 freeroll on tropical tonight, but only had an hour to play, as i had to leave, and mainly just entered to kill some time before i left. So anyway, i played to the first break and had built up a chip stack of somewhere between 7k and 9k (maybe a little more, but not much) before i had to leave. there were 80 people left, maybe 70, and when i got home just now, i checked to see how i did, just out of cuirosity, and found that I finished 10th, and won a cool quarter. Like i said, these freerolls are easy. I didn't even play half the game and i still made the final table. :)

Well there you go.
After my very first time there, and copious amounts of shock treatment, i entered there $250 freeroll for the 2nd time in my life.
Today/Tonight
Of course after my initial experience i was rather nervous but i called my mom for support, and she said i was her brave little soldier which gave me a new found feeling of courage.
To cut a long story short and leaving out all the drama, i finished 3rd for $25.
I will take that, but i am still MR Red faced 257th from 261 first time out.
Also played 5 SNGs there with 10 players and placed 4-1-1-5-1 and all without spending a penny apart from during the breaks.

So when all said and done, there is cash to be made, so get some.

zinzan1000 be lucky

in my experience with tropical poker, lots of fish. ive taken more bad beats there than any site ive played on and ive played on most of em. But still a good tight player thrives on this site....

Nice job nateofdeath. I decided to see this site so i download it. I went the first game that was and about 3 hours later I finished the second place. (I was tired, because it's ended 3AM, so I think it is not bad)
It is the easiest and fastest game where I ever played. Only 173 entrants in the $100 tournament.

I have a question about that site.
This is a test site (beta), what does that mean? I won some money, can i give that? If yes, how?

Please help me.

the answer's probably around somewhere, but i'll just tell you. a beta test is the first version of software, usually released to a small number of people to test the product for bugs and other problems. As far as what will happen to your winnings goes, right now the rumor is that you will only get 10% of the money you win after they go live and have to clear the rest like a deposit bonus, getting a certain amout of money for a certain number of points or raked hands. And i call it a rumor simply because i've only heard it through other players, not because i doubt it's true

$500 freeroll starting on tropical in about 10 minutes. big feild for them, over 300...

btw, i guess they're just about to open, and these freerolls will pay out "real money" not the sort of "bonus money" where you only get 10% and have to clear the rest. don't quote me though
