Ladies and gentlemen, I wanted to reach out to the cardschat members to get some recommendations for an upcoming trip to Atlantic City. I have been playing cards online now for a while with some live games here and there. I have played on one of the poker pro tables on a cruise but I know that is far from the same. We are staying at the Trop over MLK weekend.

I know I want to play poker for the majority or the trip and have seen that the trop has the biggest poker room in AC. Any recommendations for a first timer? Any good places to eat in the area? I am open to all opinions. Thank you.

If you lose a bunch, don't borrow money trying to get back! There's an old saying,(don't throw good money after bad).

Hey , I live in NJ and frequently go to Atlantic City.. Each casino is good for different things... Borgata definitely has one of the nicest and the largest poker rooms.. They have the most games going usually...
I usually play at ballys it is not the nicest or biggest poker room.. but its across the street from the bus station which i usually take to get there lol...

Borgata has some really nice restaraunts like Bobby Flays Steakhouse(one of the best steaks ive ever had)... Trop has "the Quarter" which has alot of cool bars and shops and stuff as well as good resteraunts..

If your looking to go out to clubs or anything The Pool at harrahs is good wednesdays, Mur Mur at the borgata monday, Providence at Trop thurs or HQ at the revel fri.. anywhere is fun on Sat tho

I heard the revel is really nice.. but i heard theres barely ever poker going on i havent been there yet.. Hope this helps a lil if you have any other questions ill try to answer them the best i can

Oh yea The White House Sub Shop is supposed to be the best sandwich shop around.. Its a tiny dirty looking place but its ALWAYS packed haha i cant really give you feedback on the taste of the food because the times i went there was the morning after a night in AC when i was too hung over to think lol but prolly should check it out

I lived in NJ all my life up until about 4 years ago. But when I used to frequent AC I always liked the Borgata. domeburglar pretty much got it right about the poker room and the food so I would take his advice. Have fun while you're there and good luck at the tables.

If you havea smart phone download the App called Bravopokerlive.... it gives you information on any casino that uses the bravo system to check your rewards card into poker tables... It has revel, borgata, showboat, ballys, caesars, and harrahs for Atlantic City...

It shows you how many tables are going, what level games, how long waiting lists are.... It also has information on daily tournaments at each casino and what promos are running..

The Irish Pub on Saint James Place between Resorts and the Atlantic Palace is good for lunch or dinner. It's not gourmet, but the place is clean. The food is quite decent, and very cheap. The bar is open all night too and also reasonable. Free parking for the pub/restaurant across the street. Watch your mouth though, the owner is a bit old fashioned and I've seen him throw people out for swearing.

If go at night, either drive to the parking lot or walk in from the Boardwalk. You don't want to walk in from Pacific Ave, that end of the street is Sketchy Mcshadyville. Over the summer between Memorial day and Labor day, they open up the upstairs inn. The inn is not so nice (no AC) but is clean and cheap. Maybe one step up from a hostel.

If you don't mind driving about 10 minutes to West Atlantic city, I also recommend the Hampton Inn-Atlantic City Bayside. It's pretty reasonable on the weekends compared to casino room rates for Fri/Sat. It also had the distinction of being one of the few places on Black horse or White horse turnpikes that was American owned with corresponding western standards of cleanliness if you catch my drift.

I haven't been there for a while but they used to have a weekend package where they would throw in a meal and casino chip voucher for like 20 or 25 bucks. They also used to have a shuttle to the boardwalk running several times a day and conti breakfast.

Back from AC and the trip was great. Played 200NL the whole time although the Tropicana was running games up to 500NL. At the end of the trip I had profited around $800. My first trip was more than awesome and will for sure be going back.

Nice! good to hear you had a fun and profitable trip! I was actually in AC on sunday.. I stayed at the Golden Nugget.. I went to HQ at the Revel which was amazing.. I went to harrahs late night to play some $1/$2 but i didnt fare so well.. probably because of the all the party favors that were involved in my night haha
