I have played $1/3 NL along with a couple MTT's a month at my local casino for the past two years. I have also been on and off online for the same time period, but never stick with it for any length of time as I can't seem to consistently win and stay positive. I've placed high in a number of MTT's online and won a few thousand in a night in cash games as well as lost that few thousand the next time I get on. I'm torn between playing cash at low limits that fit my bankroll and risking getting sucked out on more since more people will stay till the river when it's not much money, or playing at mid stakes and risking losing my bankroll a lot faster if I'm on a bad streak. Or else playing cheap tournaments and hoping I cash good enough to make money after the numerous buy ins it takes in order to make it to the money...What are some thoughts of people who've played a good amount of either online?

I would highly recommend you don't switch to mid stakes and risk losing your bankroll faster. As far as deciding to play in MTT's or cash games. It really comes down to what you're more comfortable with. Not only should your style of play change drastically from the 2, but your time commitment. If you find that you have streaks, it might be best to play cash games, so you always have an option to leave before that bad streak swallows you up.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

My advice is for you to not climb limit just because you went up the bankroll ... use the money to learn more about the game ( coach , books etc ) and when you feel you are playing better , oh yes you rises limite.Os the limits above players are not the ones who have more bankrol , but those who have more skill !

Try to play at cash games low stakes just to teach better, when u made over 250$ on your bankroll, just raise the limits...Don`t play with a 80$ bankroll 5/10 cash game.

Like others have said. Start playing online at very low stakes its very different then live poker but, you should catch on fast. Play your position well and try to read bets.
