I'm considering investing in a poker training site but I'm not sure if it's going to be worth the money. It seems to me that youtube has an enormous amount of poker vids on it, and depending on how attentive and active you are with them you can learn a lot about the game. My question is, what differentiates the training sites from youtube content? Also, if you subscribe to one of them, how do you use their content to get better other then obviously just watching?

I'm a member of a training site and honestly I barely use it. Pokerxfactor comes with a bunch of tools like equity calcs and push fold charts, access to a ton of vids and a members only forum.

If you really want to take your game up a notch I'd spend on a few books first and school yourself as best you can then when you think your as good as your ever gonna get. Then spring for a coach. I plan on looking into some coaching myself, I just don't want to spend the money right now.

I don't, nor have I ever belonged to a training site. So I can't say definitively how useful these sites are. I would have to ask what specifically do these training sites offer. Do they offer advice specific to you, or just offer training videos. Do the "pros" who run these sites respond personally to your questions or do you get generic answers. It seems to me that unless you are receiving personalized advice, or hand, or even better, session analysis, then you might as well be watching videos on youtube.

I don't think that there is anybody out there right now with any revolutionary new strategy that nobody else has ever thought of before. So whether you are watching videos from a membership training site, from the FullTilt web site, or The wsop Academy, they are all pretty much going to be explaining the same concepts.

I've used both Youtube and training sites and both have a lot of good information. You should try some of the sites that have free trial periods to see if it's something you want to spend money on. I subscribed to Poker VT back in the day and I've had a couple months on a couple other training sites and there is definitely a couple really good ones out there. That said, there are so many free resources out there (like CC and youtube) that you could learn a lot without paying for it.

I think the best way to study is playing. You play for a while and then analyze everything.
