I was just wondering what some of use to track your poker progress. I notice that quite a few of you keep track of ROIs and such. I on the other hand, was entering a post on someone's thread and making estimates and guesses of the amount of money I had lost over what period of time. I know I started at $450 which came from winning a 1K GTD that I won a ticket for from a freeroll. I decided not to sweat the money, because if I was afraid to lose it, then I wouldn't want to play. If I don't play, then I can't win. I figure I was even for several months before I lost my focus and felt balance starting to decline. Before knew it my balance was under $200 and I had no idea how it got there.
Recently, thanks to CC, I seem to have regained some of my focus and completely turned things around. My balance is back up over $500, but I can't really give too many details as to how I got it there. I've been playing mostly step tourneys and usually play two MTTs most mornings. One is a $300 GTD and the other is a $500 GTD. The buy-in is the same for both and they generally have a similar number of players, so the prize pools are about the same. For that reason, they tend to run together in my head. I remember playing heads up for first and losing. So I figure that was like an $80-$90 win. I remember losing a nice chip advantage and coming in 3rd one morning but I'm not exactly sure when that was, maybe Sunday. I won the $500 GTD yesterday which is my second time winning it in two weeks. Has it been two weeks, or just one? It seems more recent then two weeks. Sprinkle in multiple min cashes as well as several final table finishes, over the last couple of weeks.
So you see what I'm getting at. I really don't like to sweat my balance too much, as long as I know it's going in the right direction. On the other hand, I do want to be able to say I won this amount in this tourney on this day, or know what my ROI is for the week, or month, or year.
Earlier this year I did a search for spreadsheets to track poker winnings and losses. I found a fairly simple one for access. I found an outstanding one for Excel that had seperate columns for MTTs, S&Gs, and cash games. With it you could track your overall progress, or you could track wins/losses or ROI by game type for the month or year. It had built in charts already layed out for you. It pretty much had all the bells whistles and sirens that you would want. The only problem was that the charts had been setup to track progress over a period of time ending back in 2008 or so. I'm not proficient enough with Excel to rewrite the code to bring it up to date. At any rate, I stopped using it some time back and didn't save it when I reinstalled my operating system a few months back.
I was wondering if anyone had or knew of any such spreadsheets for keeping up with poker winnings or losings, as the case may be. How do you keep up with your poker progress?
