Hi everyone, quick question here. I know that for the most part inexperienced players just add money to pots. The question I have though is how do you play against those players who play everything and get real lucky(donkeys)? Say your playing pocket aces and raise 6 times big blind to try to scare out those players and someone calls with J 7 off. They catch a 7 on the flop and you put them all in. They call all in and catch a J or 7 on the river. What do you do about these players. You Have the nuts but you play against these people who are horrible and get so dang lucky....How do you play these people...there are so many out there.

This has been covered many times, but in the situation you describe above there really isn't anything you can do. Sometimes you just get unlucky. The key is to keep your cool and not tilt out. Don't let it affect your game. Stay solid, move on, and eventually these donks' luck will run out and you'll be waiting to take their chippies.

I'd say:

- Identify them
- Proceed cautiously knowing they could call with anything
- Take full advantage of this to take all their chips when you have the nuts :)

Well the most basic of things usually works, dont bluff these guys. Bet your good hands hard but be pre-preared to release it.

And remember if you keep going into pots with the best of it the short term luck factor will vanish..... Remember poker would be lost without these guys, there would be no dead money out there. So next time your AA loses to J7o, say "NH, Well played"

In part, you don't know what the nuts is until the river cards is shown. Post flop it can be a straight, flush, set, two pair and then an overpair. An overpair is really only the 3rd best hand post flop since there is always two pair and the set that has you beat. Big difference between being ahead in the hand and holding the nuts. You can bomb all day after the flop with AA and eventually you will get caught by someone who has your overpair beat.

I just bet normally with these donkeys. I don't try fancy things like the slowplay or check/reraise. They will call you either way so why not just bet. I bet a good portion (1/2 to pot size bets) each time to make them pay but I don't reward their stupid plays by allowing them to take all my chips by overbeting the pot. I only push on the river if I know I have the nuts. I try to take these player out slowly with solid play and not the one devistating hit.

To Glo, a donkey can be anywhere, there is no limit to their bankroll. You just need to identify them and play accordingly.

if you use your notes and know they are fish then you just have to try and see all 5 cards before betting so hi maybe?
