This is kind of hard for me to answer, I do think there is such thing as to much poker, but i really don't know how long that is. I play a lot of poker myself but I dont think its to much, so my answer based on what i just said it depends on the person. I mean if you can sit there for 5 or 6 hours str8 and thats not to much for you then go for it, but if lets say you easily go bored after 2 or 3 hours then 5 or 6 would be to much for that person. Do you see the point im trying to make?

Ok question 2, I'm sure people set limits, like how many sit n gos per day or how long they play etc etc, I'm not that type I just play until I'm tired or dont feel like playing anymore.

Playing a lot of poker definitely makes you better, you get to see a lot of hands, you get experience and with experience you learn and get better. Phil Ivey has mentioned this in one of his tips or w/e u call it, somebody asked him whats the best book to read to get better or something like that, Ivey goes you don't need a book all you need to do is just play, play and play more and practice, thats the best way to get better.

if you play to much you will get burnt out eventually so taking breaks every now and then can revitalize your entusiasm.

Daniel Negranue's book has the top ten rokkie mistakes in it, guess what the top most commonly made mistake is?

.....PLAYING TOO MUCH....
try and have a set limit each day or week so that it has a control on things or how many MTTs you play a week you'll see it helps and keeps things fresh without boredom taking over and ruining your BR!

I play too much. And whats worse is that I play too many tournys where I dont make much, instead of cash games where I always come out far ahead.

Too much poker? Don't think there is such a thing. Too much poker in a row? Probably but I don't think I've come close to doing it.

Limits? Basically how much my life lets me. I have classes, baseball, and I know how much sleep I need. Those set enough limits.

Don't see how playing a lot of poker could make me cynical but it depends on the mindset. If I'm prepared and playing good poker, whether I win or lose money I'm concentrating on playing well and will probably learn a thing or two. If I just got up, not really thinking about it, kinda tired and hungry, not really paying attention, it's not going to make me better. I don't think I've ever played in that state. Always important to prepare well for a poker session, even if it's just a few minutes to get your mind in the right state, and if you're physically and mentally tired from other things, you probably shouldn't play.
