Too agressive here?

I'll try to remember this the best I can, it was a couple of days ago.
$2 buy in 5900 players. ITM 375 players left.
I have around 28 k in chips, blinds are 600/1200 folded to me (1 seat right of cuttoff) have 88, raise 3BB. SB moves all in over the top with zero thought. I called
My notes on him were something like complete dumbass, overbets hands and will push entire stack on draw.
My thinking was since I was ITM, this was a perfect time to take a shot to try and make run at FT. He ended up having nines, I lost.
Was I the one getting ahead of myself with just 8's?

I think you probably should have folded... I think you can't ever call off all your money with less than pocket kings. A push there with the eights might have made him think about it, but he still calls off a smaller stack with his hand.

I don't really agree with that, you should definitely call lighter, especialy having some stats/notes on the dude. I don't think I would have called with the 88 hand because you are in a coinflip situation pretty much and you still have over 20 bbs which is good. Should have waited a little longer. And I don't agree with the push with pocket eights, it's way too much to push, you have over 23 bbs which is far from being desperate to shove.

Yeah, I can understand why you called in this situation since you knew what you were dealing with from your opponent, but I don't think I would have called with only 88 quite that early. Unless you had him covered by a sizable amount or something...

Sounds like you were at a pretty loose table. If so, i'd definately have waited for a better spot. I mean, your raise of 3 BB's was only to test the water at that spot. Looks like its enough to shift the rags (just short of 4K by your reckoning?) but not so much that you feel tied to your 8's.
Action was folded right around to you in the cut-off, so I'd have to ask, if you fancied your 8 8 in that spot why not open shove there? The answer is 'coz you knew it wasn't REALLY an all-in hand on reflection. (hindsight is a great thing eh?)
The guy with the 9's sounds like an action player, I'm pretty sure you'd have rinsed him if you'd waited for a premium hand. Its easy to loosen up once your in the money though, and at least you cashed.
I dont think you were moving him off his 9's, a nice cheap flop would have been great, but I believe a lay-down would have been the right move in that position.

Pushing is bad here, bit too deep. When he shoves it really depends on the opponent. If your read was right that he pushes basically any two cards:

So yeah this is basically a call unless your read is that the guy who shoved is the nittiest of nits. Also 20 BBs deep I'd probably raise a bit less than 3 BBs but again that depends on the table as well.
