So am playing a 45 sit-n-go... we are half way to the final table... am in late position and I got AK off-suit... someone before me raises it to 400... I call...

Flop: 8c Qs 10d

the other guy bets... 1,000

I think about it... I got a nice straight and two high cards... so I call...

turn: Ad

River: 6d

to my luck I find out the stupid donk is holding K 6 of diamonds... and he just backdoor flushed me...

...Without stack and blind sizes, its hard to determine if this is correct or not. I'll break it down based on what is posted. Since the raise was 400 and Im assuming its a standard raise, blinds are most likely 50/100 and if you called 400 + 1000, your stack has to be in the 1400 range. So, if thats correct, you didnt have the right odds to make the call.

to my luck I find out the stupid donk is holding K 6 of diamonds... and he just backdoor flushed me...
...If my above analysis is correct, you should've a) shoved preflop or b) folded flop.
Above.

you are right... I should have moved all in pre-flop... or folded at the flop... guess it was partly my fault for playing a hand that could cause me trouble... specially against a lucky donk

I agree 100% with philthy.
What you did in my opinion is wrong. Maybe in the end it was a bad beat but with the way you played the hand you deserved it. (No offence)

How could he have had K6d when the 6 of diamonds fell on the river... If this was the case the tourney would have been cancelled, and everyone would have gotten their buyin back.

This is why people need to post real hand histories, and also to see the factors that philthy referenced.
