Tilting/Steaming - When a player loses more than they should, blinded by some kind of (usually poker related) anger, stress or emotional turmoil.

Every poker player faces it, it can lose even the best players many hundreds even thousands of dollars.

I have a problem with tilting one bad beat can lose me my whole BR, (though of course at my reDONKulously low stakes who cares?)

However, it is in itself an interesting concept, please post with your own thoughts, stories and possible cures? :)

^^^^ Do what they said....(I still need to read it, never have, just want to)

I used to have a major tilt/anger problem. I never did live, just online. I don't think I did live because I didn't want to look a fool or embarase anybody, including myself.

Online I used to get pissed, esspecially if it was some jacked up situation. I'd seriously get really upset. Then I started accepting my bad beats and over time they have gotten a lot better. I notice myself now looking at the bad beat and seeing what went wrong, where, how they took over the hand and what I can do next time. I close the window, take a nice break and find another tournament. I ussually get off the computer, get something to drink, watch a little TV...

I have issues with online steaming, mainly because it's just so easy to do - literally just a click of a button. But try as hard as you can to drag yourself away from the comp screen until you feel you're in the right frame of mind again I guess..

Read 'Zen and the Art of Poker' right now. GOGO

Has been on my long list of things to read for ever and ever I'm sure I'll get to it in the next few decades :D

I find it's my breathing, and ultimately my heartbeat.

You can use breathing to control your heartbeat (rate). I actually recite the Ohhhhmmmmm.... Omneo ho renga khio -Scuse the spelling. mantra right at the table. You can do it low enough so's nobody else can hear you.

For me, it all in the breathing.

wow, i never realised there were so many ways to avoid it, thanks. Do you use that technique after a bad beat, or just to calm yourself before a game?
