Was inspired by another post to create this one. Wondering what peoples thoughts are on turning in people for abuse or whatever reason.

Personally I haven't ever done it and can't think of a reason why i would. But different people may have had justified reasons.

The post about stalling/using max time made me wonder is there ever a real good reason to complain and turn someone in. I expressed basically people should dry their tears and move on.

Interested to hear your thoughts.

oh really good topic

people curse all the time oh well act like youve never heard an f bomb b4.....or spitt out a few your self....i personally dont care if folks curse i expect a few folks to get mad and curse ..its funny at times as i know some folks have laughed at me when i rant ....like u said get over it move on .......i think its petty turning someone in for cursing reminds me of little rats that would taddle in elementary school...the only reason i see fit for chat report is blatant racism that i cant stand to see that......if your chat reporting to me it just says your a little person with little self esteem that gets off in doing so like really get a life.....especially when it really has no effect on your health or state of being ....and really i think its funny how people curse online as if they would say these things at a live table

Are you trying to be clever here?

Wondering thoughts of turning people in on poker sites for their play and behavior. Not on CC forum.

swearing - no
personal attacks - yes if they just stacked me, if I just stacked, them then no
racism - yes if they just stacked me, if I stacked them, then no
collusion - yes if they just stacked me and I thought it was fishy

Generally I have too many tables open now to even look at the chat so I'm pretty unlikely to see any abuse if any comes my way.

Good question? When I first started playing I turned someone in who was promoting his own sportsbetting site on chat. pokerstars sent me a heartful thank you for the info. A made a second complaint somtime later involving some significant profanity. Pokerstars response was "in this instance, if you find this offensive, you may want to consider turning chat off. So I did, permantely. I'm curious though, do the poker rooms actually take any action related to their 0 tolerance chat abuse policy?

I don't ever turn anyone in, I could care less about what someone I don't know says.
Actually I may for racism if they are going on and on. But other than that no.

I haven't turned anyone in yet and wouldn't turn anyone in unless it was for collusion. When people say crap on chat it is because they are weak minded and can't control themselves. That's their problem not mine.

I will ask politely for them to refrain from profanity or talking in foreign language then if they continue or tell me to f-off then I report.
However I am on a mission on Pokerstars only to turn in offensive pictures and names, the reason for this was that my buddy was forced to change his name because someone found it "offensive" so he just closed his account and said F U pokerstars, his name was "cheddardick" and as far as pics go i had a pic of Stewie from family guy pointing and saying "you suck" they took it off and said it was offensive, so ecause of those 2 things I'm on a mission to make Pokerstars like Walt Disney world :)

If people are being outright offensive, racist, or sexist then I would definately turn them in. This is a game and there is an etiquette. I understand people are going to get angry, but they should be in control of themselves and calm down after a few minutes of venting. Constant berating is not necessary.
As for collusion, I'd turn them in in a heart beat.

i have sat at a sng game where 2 european players from same location were raising and reraising players out of pots. they made sure to take turns winning the hands and was pretty obvious to a few players what was going on. one of them got shortstacked towards bubble play, the other raised his BB then folded for about 10 chips preflop with about 600 chips in the pot. after that i emailed support with table number and time of day. i finished itm but felt it was the right thing to do, nobody deserves to get cheated. support emailed me a few days later and thanked me and said the appropriate action was taken, i assume their accounts were banned after seeing the way the hands were played out.

Back when I still played with chat on I turned in people for 1 thing; berating bad players. I don't really care otherwise.

I'm also all for turning in POS shorties for absolutely anything that could be construed as slightly offensive in the hope that FTP will ban their pathetic POS asses.

Racism: Yes, I report. We live in 21st century, not 1930-1945 hitler era. Poker is an individual game, not a group game. You gonna be racist over that individual? Take that somewhere else. You're not only insulting the person you're being racist against. You're insulting anyone who shares same nationality as him/her.

s**ttalking: No. only babies report on that. "teacher teacher, he used the f-word. he called me this, that whatever". If you cannot handle someone's words, you have the option to block. You have the option to talk s**t back also. When I hear someone writing all sorts of noise, I mute them.

Colluding: Yes. Poker is some serious stuff. unless it's freeroll or play money, if it's real money involved, then yes. be real. everyone's playing for money. i cannot tolerate collusion. i will report. You think I'm not smart enough to collude and profit? I can call up my homeboys, tell 4 of them to sit in a single table, share the hands together and hustle your money anytime if I wanted to. If I don't do it, you don't do it. Be real. If you're losing, you're out of luck or you suck. Get over it. Overcome it.

Speaking Different Languages: Depends. I will open up translate.google.com on my firefox and copy and paste some of their texts. If it's just conversation of "bonjour, hola, hey, what's up how you doing. running good. running bad blah blah blah" then I can tolerate that because not everybody speaks English, including my roommate. If it's stuff like "pinche burro de america" "chinga tu madre" which I see a lot when some American horrible players(me included also) suck out, then yes, I will report. I've also translated some russian texts calling me and this other american player "pathetic american pests" since I saw a Russian text that looked like the word "america", i was curious and translated it. In those case, I will report, which I did several times. I warn them first. "english only before i report yall punk asses"

If they abuse is continuous and personally about you or your family yes report them, but if it is just a rant and over with let it slide.

Not that I really care, but it seems funny to me that you said Hitler era, what about Segregation in America, it was still alive way past 1945.

+1. I'm particularly ruthless when people tell fishes about their graphs at PTR. Anyone who is half serious about poker should understand that we need to provide a nice place for the recreational players to spend their dollars. And putting their losses in the face is beyond retarded.

ROTFLMAO and those are my biggest pet peeves as well. When someone starts berating the bad player I will usually spam chat with the "." to move it off the screen and hope they get the hint.

Have no problem turning people you suspect of collusion. Would think you had a better chance of getting action taken if there was more than one incident. Profanity I don't like but people will cuss as a way of life. Have more of a problem with foreign language being spoken at the table. Most sites request all chat to be in english.

As far as stalling goes that gets to be within the rules of the game and the time constraints dictated by the site. Granted it's done as way to last longer closer to the bubble or to move a postion or two when short stacked. Do however think it's very discourteous to the table but are you really breaking any rules?

If you're talking about people stalling by running down the time bank, then I wouldn't bother reporting. It's legal, but rude, so nothing would be done about it except maybe a slap on the wrist warning. Honestly, I'm to lazy and it seems like a waste of time. Haha : )

But for collusion, it's a 100% report. I heard players get their money back too!
