Is there an unwritten code of behavior?

in live play, how far is too far when it comes to bantering, distracting, teasing, berating, etc. does anything go? is there a line that can be crossed, or is it up to the individual to block out any distractions? (i'm thinking of Kassouf in the main event broadcast.)

if there is an unwritten code, what things constitute going too far?

donno really, just for playing poker you have to struggle in dealing your emotions, the least you need is some random guy messing with your nerves...that's the main reason i prefer online over live poker

I'm not sure if your questions is asking if bantering, distracting, teasing, berating, etc. should deserve a penalty, or it should just be considered poor etiquette and morally incorrect. I believe that when it comes to any type of speech play such as bantering, distracting, teasing, taunting etc. anything should go. These types of actions should not be considered cheating or deserve a penalty. With that being said I believe Kassouf has very poor etiquette and this behavior should not be encouraged as a norm in the poker community, but a penalty should not be warranted. It is the players responsibility to play their best, and if some speech play is going to inhibit you from doing that, you should leave the table.

Just mind your own business, don't be an asshole and dance around the line like Kassouf did, and you should be fine.

Individual choices as to how much you take before asking it to be stopped.
Internet is easy - turn off the chat
Live is easy - i just turn off my hearing aid.

There may not be an unwritten one, but there is a written one: no obscenities, no threats, no distracting behavior that slows the game down.

Outside of this players can mostly say what they want, if you cant take it then if you can move tables, or just block it out and try not to tilt.

i was a little surprised others at Kassouf's tables didn't try to shut him up. like how in baseball, the pitcher will hit a batter if he did something against their unwritten code, such as staring down after a home run. i know there's nothing physical card players can do however.

Another reason to play online, turn off the chat and just play.

In my opinion it would exclusively depend on how thin skinned you find yourself. Things such as calling the clock on another player can really send some people over the edge. But put yourself in the other players shoes. Would you?

I just take along my earbuds. If things are too distracting I put them in. As far as rules go I'm sure that obscenities, especially in a mixed table, wouldn't be tolerated. Can't remember the rules exactly for the local casino but I've never seen anything get out of hand like others have told me happens at their casinos.

For me - not really.
Poker is like any other game, but with less info. If something like "thank you","nice hand" will help me tilt % in my favour by making my opp make a mistake - I go for it. No actual insults that can get you thrown out, but being an ass is good =)

for exm:
i think the only code its to respect the game and players . i dont appreciate jurks . i dont like poeple who are talking all time in the meddle of a hand .
If I see someone complaying about in the chat, trust me you "time bank" too often from me

Some one mentioned Tony G... my point exactly. The guy was doing what he was supposed to do making his ops feel uncomfortable(complayning, sreaming, making fun). I sure Tony would key your car if he could =)

No code of conduct exists. Only the limits of decency in every human being.
