It should be the Casino's responsibility to stop a player from playing once he is drunk. Mr. Watanabe should take responsibility for his debts.

Well Watanabe obviously has gambling problems... the casino should not have allowed him to stay and gambling, at the same time though, he should have been able to stop himself.

It's people like this that give all of "gambling" a bad name. Gambling is suppose to be for fun. You go there because you're up against odds and you want to win it big. Sort of like a lottery, but better chances. I don't know how he can look at his father after destroying his family's legacy.

Its people like this that stop poker from being considered a game of skill. Too many sick players that just like to gamble... nvm, we like those people, those darn fishes.

It is not the casino's fault.

A casino is a business based on people loosing. This guy lost $127million, its a lot but why should the casino be expected to turn away their biggest customer?

If they said "Mr Watanabe, you have lost a lot, we are going to stop you from playing for the next few days", Mr Watanabe isnt going to say "gee thanks you really stopped me from loosing everything", Mr Watanabe is going to get his stuff and go to another casino who is willing to let him gamble with his $127 million.

People seem to think .. well the guy was drunk so maybe he should get back his money. Those people should consider the reverse of this. If someone wins a lot of money at a casino, can they breathalyse him, and if he turns out to be drunk, can the casino have their money back?

This is a man who lost $127 million over the course of 12 months. He knew what he was doing but exercised no personal responsibility. Now he realises that $127 million is a lot of money to loose, he thinks he should have it back. This man is an idiot.

Thats true, it is a business, but it is partly their fault, if they wanted to stop him they could but they didnt and they dont mind that they didnt.

what a degen. and it's really his own fault, i dont see how the casino is at fault when someone who knew he was clearly drunk/sick, still wanted to gamble.

How is the casino's fault? A casino is a legal gambling establishment. This is what they do, this is their purpose.

Why would they want him to stop?

Are other businesses expected to turn away their best customers?

Or is this just limited to casinos in your eyes?

i think salim is referring to the part of the article that says the casinos are legally supposed to stop people who are obviously intoxicated, and the employees that were worried about their own jobs so they didnt do anything about it. although the fact that the casinos will never lose this court case means they are not at "fault".

i feel a little sorry for this guy tho. super smart and savvy business guy cant find something to do with his time and money so he gets caught up in the rush of gamblin and livin the luxury high life that the casinos provided for him. kind of a dumbass in the end tho, i guess.

Alrightt i understand that casinos are businesses and its stupid to stop people from handing you their money.

but idk, if i have five apples and i give Billy one, and then cuz he wants more he waits till im around him and get drunk and asks for more... isnt Billy at fault for taking all my apples? I gave them to him sure... but i was intoxicated...

Kind of a bad explanation but idk how to explain how I see it, we have differing opinions and thats fine and I respect yours.

I think if he can show that he was severely drunk and the casino let him play, and has witnesses to that, he may have a case according to state law...

This cant be the casino's fault. All his. Learn how to walk away (altho it says he lost $127m in a year) and never get to a state of drunkness in a casino that u dont know wut ur doing.

What a tool.
