I'm off on holiday tomorrow for 10 days so I'm gonna take some time away from poker, which I haven't done in like.... 36 months.

I guess it's going to be pretty boring! im actually leaving my phone off all together so will be nice.
My initial feelings are their will be more positives than negatives from having time away and who knows may come back and get in the zone fresh start and all that!

does anyone ever take total time away without a single game?

Taking a break from poker will be good for you and it can also be very good for your game, poker takes a lot of mental power so giving that a break will allow you to think more clearly and make better moves at the tables even if you don't notice it.

I haven't been playing a whole lot lately.but that's cause ive been busier than a 1 legged man in an ass kickin competition. today I only worked a half a day 8am to 8 pm but I do like to play a few hands to wind down before crashing.and it does make me appreciate the time I do play and I feel I try harder having less time to play to make the best of it.oh well enjoy your holiday

Poker is too much fun to be doing something else.

I hope you have a great holiday. Taking a break from poker for a while is something we should all do from time to time. I agree with you that it will be a positive and work in your favour.

I think it's always a good idea to take a break, the perspective you gain on poker in general and your own play in particular can be really useful when you're totally away from it.

Recently spent 8 days away on holidays, no poker, beach resort etc. An all round recharge, and I formulated a revised live $1-2 and $2-5 cash strategy, which has been profitable since returning home (well, ok, only after 3 live sessions in 2 weeks, but happy with that at my level.)

I don't take breaks until I start running bad so I guess I need to start a new strategy. Have fun on vacation!!

Enjoy your trip mate! I am back and forth about taking a break. I think I absolutely must so that I can order some other things in my life and reclaim proper balance.

Don't want to admit the truth, but its gotta happen once in awhile. You'll come back from your vacation with a sharper game btw!

Everyone needs a vacation or take a break especially if your running bad losing on the river all the time I only work on the weekends so I pretty much have a 5 day vacation every week

Believe it or not, I took a whole two year break after Black Friday. I just had my second daughter, and was frustrated with the online poker world, so I just quit. It was probably a good thing though, because now I'm back, and better than ever.

I play poker online since june 2012 and since september 2012 until may 2013 I didn't play poker at all...I just didn't feel the need to to this but in may one of my friends reminded me of pokerstars , so I started playing poker again...Hundreds of dollars were won and lost since then...

HI guys,

Well I got back from the break this week, was nice I come back with some new idea's not just for poker but for life in genural and I found without being on my phone or internet for long periods,
It really opens alot of positive doors in your mind. only negative is I got absoloutely wasted when I got back out for 2 nights that kind of took the lining off of and slightly dented my thinking concept! and I feel less enlightened :(
but at least I learnt a few things :)
Lol

Just have had 2 months of poker without volume at all (maybe did fool around a couple of games , but never have sat down serious in that period)
Was feeling not good about poker at all at that time and running bad for a long period didn't help as well. Did do a lot of other not internet related things and that brought me new energy and joy , also can leave the bad things that had happened behind and see this as a new fresh start. <-- Just started 3 days again (3 days of profit with one $500+ score in a $5)
