ok i would like to know what my fellow CC rs hve to say about this here......ok i play mainly 1/2 cents somtime 2/5 and 5/10 but the limit is irrelevant. What I want to know from you guys is how do your swings usually go........me Ill lose a 40 cent buy in goin all in with jacks or somthing and lose on the river to ace queen ..then rebuy another 40 cents and lose with ace king to a set of twos....u get the picture im painting right and this i swear will happen for like three to four rebuyus and ill kick and throw stuff for ten minuites watch a movie then ill go back and triple my buyin move to another table and double up and get even maybe even get on the positive by almost a buck......i just find it so freaking odd how i can lose consistantly to two and one outers in a matter of minuites as if the universe is telling me in this cruel way "YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO WIN " "PUAAAHAHAHAHAH" then i can sit back down later and win every single dam hand hit every flush n straight draw and have my pok prs hold up...its rediculous these swings ..its almost as if this game is desighned to keep decent poker players either marginally ahead or just teetering between the verge of going broke and even..

High variance is a natural consequence of short stacking - you're effectively taking lots and lots of coinflips. Stop short stacking and maybe things will smooth out a little.

Meh, I play deep stacked and I've had several swings of a couple of thousands dollars even though i'm a 3BB/100 winner at small stakes. You just need to get used to them. It's part of the game.

Obviously you need good bankroll management.

That happens ALL the time - wait until it happens to about 10 buy ins in a row - talk about tilt, lol.

What most of us fail to remember is how many times WE, ourselves sucked out on someone else or how many coin flips we won. And sometimes we think just because we have strong draws, they will hit (AK for example) Remember, AK is actually an underdog to pocket 22's, so really, the favorite won that hand.

P.S. By the way, the random number generators are programmed to give short stackers (20 bb) bad beats, so you might want to consider buying in for a little more.

j/k

I was kidding about the RNG giving short stackers bad beats - that's what the j/k stood for.

Anyway, I assure you that you are not losing 100% of your coin flips. Did you know that 88's & 99's against TWO or more other hands that have over cards is far from a coin flip...you're actually a big underdog in most cases. Mid pockets are only coin flips to overs when you are down to a ONE on ONE situation.

How are you playing those mid pockets? If you're a shortstacker and pushing with them pre-flop, I guarantee you the reason you're losing is b/c more than one person is calling you - why wouldn't they call a .40 bet??? Most people that play 2 NL don't realize that 40 cents is a 20 bb raise, they just think - "wow, I have QJ, easy call for 40 cents" lol I'm guessing that's what you're running into.
If that's the case, then you will lose most of the time with those mid pockets, it's a no brainer.

Short stack strategy says never to shove with anything other than JJ+ or AK, so it seems to me that you're overvaluing you're hands in relation to your short stack play.

Just take a step back and evaluate the situation.
