I have mixed emotions about on-line vs live poker, but I have come to a conclusion recently; Silence is golden.

In terms of actual playing, reading players is easier in live poker. I just have decided I do not care anymore. I like that silent sound, the one where I have no distractions to deal with and I just concentrate on the cards that I have in my hand.

I turn off all chat options at the table and I refuse to engage in any banter anymore from here on out. I have in the past allowed myself to be baited by nincompoops or trolls, but no more.

I like to talk with somebody during game, especially if don't come good cards long time.
If I play online poker, I'm more and more bored and I fall into tilt mostly.
But if I play live poker, I talk to somebody. It's great way to kill the time and find out anything about the rivals.
So...I vote for live poker! :D

I prefer listening to music with rough rock and dance to mi mé one froma of getting more into the game after a long time sitting at a table, regardless of whether it's online or live.

While I do appreciate some great banter here and there - live and online - I like to occasionally keep to myself both live and online. Really, when playing live, it depends on the energy of the people at the table. Poker is a social game, so it's important to engage. The more relaxed you are, the better. So do what's right for you. I am drawn to fellow social butterflies.

I love to communicate in real poker when I do pass, or make fun of someone, and indeed a real poker for me purely entertainment, and the game on the Internet is something more serious that is more like a job.

I usually do like the atmosphere, only after playing so much on-line and dealing with the trolls, I just like listening to my music and ignoring them, it is so easy to get sucked into playing hands I have no business playing just to try and get rid of the jerks.

The only time recently I've actually seen people having normal, adult conversation during online poker was the CardsChat league games. It was good to see. Usually online the chat is not worth paying attention to.

I don't use chat online...too many trolls and idiots. Live, I focus solely on the game, including the people. I usually don't talk too much, but that's mostly because I'm shy.

Live I prefer quiet - but then being half deaf that is not a problem.

Internet - some days with music, others without. Headphones on indicate to my wife I am serious and not to interrupt (and I can't hear the telephone)

Really, when you are playing and the phone rings, it's hopeless, I take all the concentration and independent of who is calling me I'll get frustrated.

Better to play live because you can see other's emotions but you also have to be a good actor :D

Online play you must have some music for background but staying away from the noise of chat totally agree. I can not remember the last time engaging in chat was a positive EV move.

Speaking as a live poker player, the only thing about listening to music while playing is that you might miss information that a player unknowingly reveals when he/she is talking. What really frustrates me is when a player raises and the player listening to music doesn't pay attention when they are in the hand.

Granted, it comes in handy when you have an annoying player that won't shut up. But, that's when patience comes in.

I guess it's a matter of preference, but I find listening to music on the headphones to be distracting. I like to focus on the game even when I'm not in the hand. You might learn a few thing about the player (s) later on that would help you later on to take their chips.
