Some guy the other day said, that he was dominating the super turbos on full tilt. So i looked into it and watched a few. To me they look like all luck. They are full of bad beats cause when ever someone has close to a good hand they push all there chips in. Is it really possible to dominate these? what is the strategy? To me it doesnt seem like you can play tight the whole time, but its tough to play tight because everyone throws their chips in.

the fast the levels the less skill IMO.

turbos do favor more aggressive players somewhat but I agree the faster the levels, the more luck involved.

ultra turbos are mainly luck, if you dont double up, youll be blinded out

I still will play turbo though, because there still is a reasonable amont of time before the blinds get too high

Its all luck !!! but if you do manage to win coupla all ins and get lot of chips than you can just wait and pick off the people going all in w marginal hands. That would be my strategy...

Its a numbers game but you obviously need to get lucky and play hands to do well but you can still pick your spots.

Super Turbos are a waste of time IMO.

might as well go flip coins for $$$.

i could see some entertainment value in steam/tilting some $$$ there tho.

there may be luck involved, but the conservative player can win if he stays patient and may have to allow his stack to get to half the avg before he can find cards to play. Skill needed for sure

i agree that there is a lot of luck involved and that it is a high varience game but like all games it can be beaten, most of the ppl playing it are either way too tight or way too aggro and if u find the right balance it is easy money imo

You know, I had close to a 10 game 2nd or better streak at the bodog Super Turbo STT's not too long ago. Lately, I seem to just blind out before I can make a move. As alluding to before in this thread, I believe the only viable strategy is to play ultra tight and only the top premium hands. Consequently you should play them aggressively, isolating 1 or 2 players and hope for a double up. Granted, this is an ideal scenario and it might not always pan out the way you like.

Super-turbos are stupid because they are too easy. The optimal strategy is known (ICM-based push/fold) so even a bot could play those. It also means that

1. you should crush the lower stakes using half a brain cell, although variance will be a bitch.
2. you can't really beat the high-enough stakes as all players will end up playing optimally and the rake will screw everybody.

Have played one ultra turbo single table game. I caught every flop played every hand and won it in like 5 minutes. Was all luck no skill at all involved playing these is just a game of showdown.

wrong

You guys are wrong; it's very easily crack these super turbos. If it were all luck, then how do I keep a consistent 40% cashing rate on them? Yesterday I cashed in 17 out of 36 on FTP, with seven 1st, five 2nd, and five 3rd. The key is just like any other game of poker-- knowing when to pick your spots. I usually shove with an ace with a big kicker, and about half the time I get called by someone with a weak ace, or less. Other than that, just go all-in with the very top hands at first, and when it gets to the bubble, get super aggressive, playing hands like you were heads up, because everyone is trying so hard to limp into the money, you just buy pot after pot.

It's easier to get a read on people because it is just all-in over and over again. You see a ton of shown down hands, and get to know quite easily what kinds of hands your opponents are willing to go all-in on. It's more clear than any other game that I have experienced to tell whether your opponent is tight or aggressive, someone to mess with or not etc..

I haven't played these yet. But I do think a lot of people turn their noses up at them for the wrong reasons. To me it doesn't seem that these would play any differently to any final table that you reach in a MTT, apart from starting with even chips, and are probably good practice for exactly that situation.

Wouldn't you agree?

^ this, AFAIK.

Obviously there's more variance, but as long as there's people in these games playing them badly it'll be possible for good players who make good decisions to profit from them.

The real question is what $/hr figure you're getting from them, and whether or not it's better than the other games you beat.

I wouldn't waste your time, it's more of a luck draw, if you're card dead for the first 20min, say bye.

i agree with the luck element as if you dont get any cards early you have to go in with a hand you might not usually play and hope you hit

I've already played ...
It is a funny poker style, I liked to play somes, but it is more like lottery than real poker.

Most, at the end, ones on those I played was limited to 1000/2000 at the end so, from this moment on, for the head up, it can be a little bit more strategic than at the beginning :)

As you say : Fastest the levels go, luckyest you have to be for winning

Sometimes, you don't have time enough to start a tourney and you don't want to start a sit and go neither cash games, then it is a good way to work for a very amount of money not risking more than initial buy in

Super turbous are tough.. Your playing tight and blinds are raising o,O You must play more loose, because, if you wait like 20hands for KK, blinds are pretty big, and you dont got good stack. In early, all donkeys are pushing all in with 2 7's etc, and hoping that they triple their chips -,-.
You should play more hands and try get nuts and push all in with em lol.. Super turbos are bingo lol.

I play the supers all the time and it is not all luck. There is a system to playing them. Just like most things if you don't understand it you all say it's dumb luck.
