Here is the flop.
AhTcJc

And the turn.
Kd

And the river.
Qd

Now the betting.
Hero checks
DonkoftheMinute bets!
DonkoftheMonth raises!
Hero calls.
DonkoftheMinute (elevates himself to DonkoftheMillenium) and re-raises
DonkoftheMonth calls
Hero calls

Hero becomes FoulMouthoftheDay and types expletives in chat!

Do these cretins like paying rake? Do they think that there are people with a similar mental incapacity as themselves who will fold to this "bluff"? Do they not realsie that this board can't be beaten?

I sometimes despair of the human race.

Yeah I hate that, of course the other stupid thing people will do is bluff into an empty pot.

Short stack was all-in PF the other day, I'm sitting on AA and another guy called behind the short stack (I bet exactly enough to put the first guy all-in). The other guy in the pot with me now bets pot after a low flop. I almost fold because I figure what besides a set or 2 pair bets into an empty pot? Then I realize that actually top pair is more likely, probably pretty sure they're ahead now but worried about me staying in for free and hitting. So I call. In the end he shows down J5 (no 5 on board, the 5 was a gutshot though). Why do you put in a pot sized bet on a complete bluff? If I fold, he still loses unless he hits, and his bluff has won him a total of *drum roll* ZERO DOLLARS. If I call, unless he ends up hitting his gut shot (he could have thought a J would be good as well), he loses the money he put in. Never mind that he called an all-in PF with J5, I just can't believe people who bluff into empty pots. You're giving your opponent infinite odds on that pot. Unless either you think that over 50% of what they call with will still lose to you (ie you have a set or 2 pair, my first thought), or you have a hand that's probably the best (including beating the all-in) and want to discourage a hand from drawing (maybe he thought I had AK or something).

But yeah, throwing money away to rake and bluffing into an empty pot are 2 moves that are just so amazingly stupid.

umm, i've seen people fold to river bets on AKQJTr boards before. you overestimate the intelligence of poker players as a whole if you think nobody ever folds here.

guess it comes down to if you think the miniscule chance of someone folding (and yes, it definitely does happen) outweighs the added rake

Wow, how do you fold the absolute nuts ever, even if you are playing the board?

people misread the board sometimes. or they were all ready to fold to any turn action because they have no pair no draw, so if it's checked through, the river seems so inconsequential to them that they hardly notice it put the nuts on the board. it can happen

This is absolutely my pet hate!

Ongame doesn't seem to display side pots individually (it only displays the total pot, i.e. main pot + side pots), so I frequently run into people who will bluff even though the side pot is completely empty.

Just a few days ago, somebody bluffed into an empty side pot with T2s (no pair, no draw). I threw away AK high, thinking he must have at least a pair, just to realize that I would have won both the main and the side pot (the guy who was all-in had AJ).

Thank you, your moronic bluff not only cost you money, it also cost me money.

It would have been profitable to fold here, under these circumstance if this was a ring cash game, and you folded before the insanity.

The rake gets so big, that even though you know it will split, your are putting in 100 to get back 95. But once committed, you really have no choice here. You have to call or lose your big bets. But yeah, they were stupid.
