This is soooo dumb, if first position (UTG) limps in after the big & small blind at 10/20 blinds and UTG+1 puts in 100, is that a 100 raise or 80 raise? This is the dumbest question ever, I know. Let me put it another way, if UTG+1 calls out 100 raise do they have to put in 100+ the 20 big blind or just 100?

"Raise to 100" so they need to put in 100 chips, which includes the 20 big blind.

if utg + 1 put 100 chips and you have already put 20 chips then to call his bet you have to put another 80 chips on the pot assuming nobody makes a 3 bet raise.

this is tricky an usually a dealer or supervisor gets called in, if he says "raise 100" I interpret that to be a raise of 100 chips so that equals 120 now if he says "raise TO 100" I take that as a raise of 80 so makes it 100. grrr i hate this in tournament play

PS this goes to the tipping the dealer post i made earlier never state your raise put the chips in keep your mouth shut and make the dealer earn his money... they are well paid and over tipped.

He raises to 100 but raises by 80. If he says "raise 100". then think that would be taken as raise to 100.

I guess maybe it wasn't such a dumb question after all.
