I saw my second or third str8 flush the other day.
I'm somewhere between 50k and 100k hands total
and I have yet to get my own. (one in 72,000 I'm about due for one.)
I hope I can get more out of it than this guy did. All in after the flop with two callers. (in a 250 single table so the most he could get was 1125 chips. He also didnt 'cash' in the tourney poor guy. what a waste) Now for my Q's: The odds of this happening with his hole cards were 1 in 9800. I don't think in this case it was possible (regardless of how unlikely) for the hand to get counterfeited after the flop. Under certain circumstances with a regular str8 (only using one card to make the bottom of the str8) it is a very bad idea to bet much on it. I think if he had connectors instead of 2,5 it would have been possible to beat him, correct? I calculated the odds of this happening to be One in Ninety-Six Million. (9800^2) is that right? What I'm getting at is: is it ever a very bad bet to go all in with a str8 flush? Even if you only used one card? Or if it were on the board even what are the odds your opponent would have the next higher suited card? (5s 6s 7s--8s--9s You have ATC (you probly should not be in the hand, but maybe you had As 3s for the nut flush on the flop then it turns into the str8 flush on the river)and your opponent has Ts x)

I'd say if I flop a RF I should play as slow as possible hoping for other regular flushes to bet. Or LAG's to bluff.

Hand analysis: I'm not sure what J,6o was thinking calling all in on a gut shot. The set of twos is not as bad but betting into a str8, a flush and a SF was not a good idea. (both drawing dead anyway but they didn't know that) I don't remember what I had but I'm prty sure I folded PF cuz I'm tight as a frogs butt.

I've gotten 4 royal straights, and the first one I ever got was FLOPPED. I'd like to know what the odds are of flopping a royal like that. Probably pretty sick. It was only at a play chip table, but was still pretty sweet. I had AK of clubs.

I've played like 500k hands of poker lifetime and have never had a royal flush of my own.

re 500k hands: statistically you have about 160k hands left to play before you get one. :(

re odds of one SF beating another: I was a little off on my calculation. 1 in 96 million was assuming another player had suited connectors close to yours. Overall the odds of there being 2 SF's should be one in 72000 squared, right (thats 1 in 5.184 billion) so if you go all-in and lose with a SF, there are not the words to describe the sickness of that happening. Youre twenty times more likely to win the grand prize in the McDonalds Monopoly game and 28 times more likely to win the Powerball.

My 1st and only str8 flush to the Ace (Royal, if that's what you wanna call it!) was on the very 1st hand of the very 1st cardschat FR I was EVER in! Had the 10-K spades dealt to me and the A-J-Q spades were FLOPPED!!:) Didn't win much inna pot, maybe 300 chips, 'cuz everybody folded eccept a pair of Qs, who folded when the 4 spades came onna riv! And I slow played it alla way!:p When can I collect on that Power-ball?? Once inna UB FR, I caught a str8 flush to the king, and my closest opponant caught a str8 flush to the Q---all in Diamonds!! Same hand!

No, no, you'll hit 283 RF's before you win the powerball. If you have a SF to the Q and somebody else has it to the A then you're 28 times more likely to win the Powerball.

Edit: Oops didnt read your whole post. Yep you did exactly what I described (SF K high vs SF Q high). Yeah I'd definately buy some Powerball tickets if I were you. :p
