They also sell pads with fans in them to place your laptop on. I got one couple years back and worked wonders for my dell era old laptop.Often the cpu will throttle down when normal temps are exceeded causing perfomance issues on even the easiest of tasks

Cheap and temporary but set it on something so you get airflow under it allowing the heat to disperse

That is great advice. I've had to take the laptop to the A/C or a fan in the past.

I would suggest just investing the 120$ into either a decent cpu or a decent cpu cooler to avoid having heating issues, poker sites typically dont use up much RAM memory or CPU memory in general. Also cleaning the dust out of your pc fans will greatly increase its life span and prevent heating issues

buddy i play not 7 hours. i play a day my laptop always on almost 15-18 hours a day. before i set my battery like instruction on Youtube that i post my laptop is always hot like hell. after i follow everythings good no more overheat. i will not make this thread if i dont prove it by myself first.

so pls if you have that problem then prove it by yourself first. if its not good for you then leave it. its easy to setting it back.

i believe people who already try this method already (or most of them) know this is very good but they forget coming back to say about theyr experience abou it.

*dam boys i just try to help

My past left top was also verry headed. You need to lift your laptop aand put it 2 cm above your desk. The air is then not so hard on the desk anymore.

Almost all of heat issues are maintenance problems.
Whether or not you use your laptop/PC heat problems will happen over time if you do not service it i.e. clean it.

Symptoms of heat problems - noisy fan, laptop feeling hotter than it use it, sluggish programs and in critical heat situations system unexpectly shutting off

How to check for heat problems - download a program like SpeedFan or something similiar. Most Laptops and Motherboards manufactured in the last 15 years have heat sensors on them.
Speedfan will tell you the temperature of your CPU & Hard Drives and Speed of fan(s).
You should test idle (not doing anything) and with load on it (run something that uses alot of processing power)

How to fix -
Clean inside of computer - Clean out Fan and all air vents. DO NOT USE WATER. You can use a can of compressed air to blow out vents and fan. The heat normally melts the dust and it becomes hard for this gunk use alcohol(at least 80%) and soft cloth.
Re-apply thermal paste - This should be done at least every other year as it gets hard over time.Thermal paste is the grey compound between CPU and Heatsink. It will seem to be unimportant but this compound is crucial in removing heat. You can get thermal paste relatively cheap at any computer store it is less than $2 USD. If you are in a jam and can't get thermal paste you can make an alternative that can work for couple month - Tootpaste and vaseline mixture will substitute. I can tell you it 100% works from experience.

The fixes I outlined above are easy do it yourself stuff but taking apart a PC or Laptop could be troublesome if you got no clue what you are doing, especially laptops. You can casue more trouble than you started with. There are loads of youtube videos and help articles that can be found with google to help you.
Of course you can just send it technician to have it done which for some of us is the easiest and safest option.

From what I read what you are doing in decreasing performance which is a short term fix.

If you want I can guide you through my steps above. You should be able to use your Laptop on max setting with no overheating issues.

The air intake vents are usually on the bottom. Once service is flat and not cloth like on top bed should not be an issue. Once the surface is flat the Laptop vents will not be right on surface as there are little plastic thingys like bumps that are built into design so that the vents do not sit on surface to stop air.

I am no expert I just take stuff apart.

I would still recommend dowloading SpeedFan or something similiar to monitor your internal temperatures.

If you never took apart a laptop before I suggest getting someone experienced to do it.

But it is not too hard as laptops are built to access the cpu easily with just removing back cover and the billion screws in them. By billion I mean around 15-20.

yep speedfan run on my laptop now ty ty.

you know i just offer people the easy way. simple and no need high skill etc . like if the laptop start getting hot then turn it low, when it cool again then they can setting it back to hight performance if they want. but i agree with you its just short term fix, in the end we have to cleaning it from inside and i will follow your advice. the step you write is preety clear to follow. and i will try it. thankyou again joesi best luck at the table:)
