What steps are you taking to become pro?

:icon_thum

So far ive played 10 000 sng/mtts this year and I want to make a living off poker. My goal is 40$ per day profit. In about 8 months ive went from a 10$ bankroll to 3000$ and now I can spend anywhere between $300-$700 per day on mtts. 15-20 tables of mtt. I playing 6 days a week straight usually 6-10 hours per day. Im trying to meditate, eat healthy and study learn poker and exercise. At the moment I need to become a better learner and try to really have a good study plan and try to consistently study, exercise, meditate and eat healthy. I don't care I want to be a poker pro so bad. Im not going to stop until I can achieve it. grinder til I die

The only step I'm taking is to constantly play. The more you play the more you learn. That doesn't mean you'll be better just cause you play alot. But under the right circumstances you should get better the more you play.

I would say following BRM while obviously winning is key. Running like a God also helps.

Not getting tilted when losing hands (its whats going to happen when you play more hands)

Practice and learning from mistakes. Basically like anything in life you want to better yourself in.

in my opinion you need to play more, see their mistakes and correct them, to set yourself on the game before you make a decision you need to think and calculate your chances!

Everyone will progress at a speed they are motivated too. As far as a being a pro, you have more people trying to achieve that goal who in the early stages of playing than those who have played for awhile.

I disagree when people say the best way to learn is to play. How are you going to fix the leaks that you are not even aware of?

I am not looking to go pro, but would like to be able to take £500 a month from poker. At the moment I am grinding and there is a great YouTube channel I am currently watching with loads of training videos.

Working on mental game is key too, I am always on the look out for good quotes and wallpapers.

$40/day? Umm enjoy poverty OP

Seriously, 5 days a week for 52 weeks is 260 work days a year before any vacations. That'd be $10,400 a year

Even if you played 365 that's $14,600

I dunno, maybe you're younger but my bills are over $5k/month man.

Yes I want to move to Thailand and play poker. 20$ is enough for 1 day super cheap in Thailand and im 21. At the moment using the 8% cashout strategy I can make 52$ a day sometimes. so im nearly there but I need to put in a bit more volume for confidence in my results. and too save up a bigger life roll/bankroll. I can go over on an education visa and go to school and learn thai 2 days a week for I think 700$ for 1 year. In that time it would be my goal to move up the limits and be earning enough so when I come back to my country Australia I can afford to be professional. so I would have 7 years in Thailand to work on my game or something. Ive been playing poker since I was 17 and now im 21 and have a stronger drive for poker then ever.

No I would say 200 buy in for mtt at least. even now I can lose 20% of my bankroll for 1 session using the 0.5% rule.

It takes a lot to become pro. For me, I've greatly increased the amount I am playing as well as diving into a vast majority of poker education. Want to make sure you are well rounded when it comes to different styles. Some people say reading poker books is no good and it's all based upon feel, and I can kind of agree. However, you do learn a lot and it helps you see different sides of the game. Reviewing old hands is always good and of course BRM is a key factor.

the steps are standard.

Study, get good and apply proper BRM. Not to mention, win.

Thing is its easier said than done. Especially nowadays that everyone is a semi-pro or at least think they are. Good luck in the thai thingy though. Sounds super fun.

Reading! My five books arrived in the post last week so I've been getting stuck into them. I watch some poker strategy video's on youtube & play try to play every day. Also try to keep my BRM in check & fight the urge to jump limits when I'm running good

I'm grinding my way up gradually. The best advice I can offer is to develop some form of memory system. I use a Loci system using Pao. If you're not familiar with this Loci is using locations like a kind of map and Pao is Person Action Object. For example KQo for me is (Person) Lil Kim (Action)Wrapping/Rapping and (Object) wrapping paper. So to remember KK, QK and JK I'd have (Person for KK )King Kong (Action for KQo) wrapping up some (Object for KJo) handcuffs. This image would be placed in a loci for whatever purpose I would desire. I've got hundreds of these loci for hands in percentage order for 1% through 100% of hands vs 9 players etc... It's also a very quick method of memorising a strategy. If you can be bothered you could even set up an entire system for memorising a whole game like a virtual HUD. This is on my to do list but I'm too damn lazy. Hope this is of some use to you.

Frankly, even factoring in the idea of moving to a place where it's possible to live on less than $40 a day, I wonder how good your apparent plan is. Unless you intend to stay in Thailand permanently, what happens when you return home to where the cost of living is significantly higher?

If you're going to play full-time, why not just set your sites higher? For instance, if $40 avg per day is achievable for you, how much more difficult do you think it would be to avg enough to live cheaply without moving away?

Fwiw, I've seen lots of people who erroneously thought they would make a lot of money from becoming pros, but I can't recall even one whose idea of going pro involved making so little.

I could maybe live here in Australia off poker only just if I moved into a share house. but I seriously hate other people. that's why I get so much joy from taking there money. But Thailand I can probly get a very nice place all to myself. If it all fails and when I come back to my country, I would be in the same position as im in now. And would just have to find a shitty job. and 40$ is the minimum I would expect to be making more than that when I get back. I have my sights set a lot higher than 40$ per day. plus Asians are sexy imo

I think this is a really good point.:withstupi

I quoted that wrong but this site is a bit wierd

The site isn't weird, you deleted the [/ in front of the last quote tag, when you removed part of the post you quoted.

Good luck in your endeavours from another Aussie.

Law of Averages - The more games you play the better you become.

Network - You see a good player then message them and see if you get a response. Maybe even watch them for a few games to pick up some tricks.

Student Mentality - Always know that you can improve and take constructive criticism

Confidence - Not to be mixed up with ****iness, but be confident in your ability to do well and not be intimidated or forced to make moves based on if your opponents put you on tilt
