I see alot of step promotions on all the main poker sites. Are these worth persuing or are they just a waste of time and money. Ive tried them a few times and maybe go up one or two levels then lose and have to start over again. I can see poker rooms making alot of money off these. Am i misguided in my thoughts?

I just started playing them and I found the first few levels are very easy then it gets hard. This is what I do. Full Tilt you can start at step 0 ($1), its 99 person sng and you need 30th to go to step 1. Its super easy you only have to win 2 or 3 hands. After that I go to single table sng until I get to 3 then you can use that ticket to play a $22 mutitable tourney. I just started this a couple days ago and I have entered 4 $22 games and only invested about $9 so it works pretty good. I haven't won anything from those games yet (I bubbled one though:( but its only been 4 tries so I think I will soon, kind of an interesting way to make money.

The steps can be pretty fun. The first couple levels are easy to get through, and you can win some decent money at the higher steps even if you don't actually get to move on.

First levels are kinda easy... when you get up to the last 2 steps you get to play ppl that actually know poker xD not like the other steps you'f played in .. you need to adapt.. if not >.> you end up going out on a bluff xD

I think the steps are kinda pointless if you start way at the bottom. You have to win like 6 or 7 before you can get mula. Granted its alot of money, but if you could use the step tickets for say another tourney of the same value then they wouldnt be as bad but since you cant exit and cant win a few and run with the money I also see it as kinda pointless and a waste of money.

Actually, from step 3 and above (in fulltilt) you CAN use the step tickets to play other tourneys.

I tried the steps at full tilt again, spent my dollar got my ticket then got step two ticket, now i've tried to get step 3 ticket but i keep getting 3rd or 4th, tried about 4 times:s: . The good thing is i get my step 2 ticket back again and for my 1$ ive had hours of fun and frustration. I guess i can see the fun in them now:eek:

What you have to remember with steps is while they are a decnt way to try and get tickets for higher games you are spending time you could be learning grinding a game getting better at that game and making regular profits. Steps can be usefull though I made a few hundred of them playing a few 69$ games to an ftops game sat which are not running now but it took a bit of back and forth between the levels to get there.

Steps

They brilliant...

or steps :D

Now seriously. I think steps is a waste of time and money. In steps you are committed to play in a certain tournament not necessarily suitable for your bankroll level. Could be a situation that you are playing at 16$ buy-in tournament as appropriate to your bankroll level is 2$ buy-in.

I busted my bankroll so I thought I would buy 2 step 1 tickets with academy points. And then I found out you couldn't convert them to real money. And I got them both to step 2 tickets which would be worth 17$ (combined) and I busted on both round 3's. So gay I could have easily made a bankroll out of $17 I hated I couldnt cash them for something, hell I would have taken half of $17.... $5 even.
