What's the best way of going about making a poker blog......I have seen others and am not ready myself for one, but would like to know how so i can form one sooner or later(hopefully sooner)

For example.....where do you go online to make one?
and is it time consuming?(I'm sure it is)

Any answers and suggestions would help!!:)

Thanks everyone

First off, I think it is a great idea to start a poker blog. In doing this, you can keep track of information and stats very easily and always go back to this. Also, you can link up with other bloggers and keep in touch with them. A few sites I know of are blogger.com (which I believe is blogspot.com), wordpress.com I believe works, and I think createablog.com and mindsay.com are all blog sites. Hope this helps and good luck

It seems like most of the CC bloggers are at blogspot, if I am not mistaken.

Just keep it updated, swap links with other bloggers, dont try to make money with affialiate links and go from there. There is nothing worse than a blog last updated 4 months ago.

I've been writing a poker blog for a couple months now. I'm not doing it to record my progress, I just have a ton of random stuff to say about poker. Tips, past experiences, all that. I even did a post about which superhero would win at poker.

Hope yours goes well!

Yeah it's pretty easy to start up and update a blog for your own reference and fun, but having others read your blog, if that's your goal, is an entirely different story. I made this thread for you bloggers.

10 Tips for Promoting Your Blog

But yeah, kingC, just use blogger, wordpress or the like, and it's pretty easy to get going. Good luck!

Definitely the good thing about a blog is that it usually makes you a better player because you keep track of your play closely and can read back upon what you have written and learn from it.

Nothing wrong with trying to make an extra buck by being an affiliate either as long as it doesn't effect your blog. But definitely get people to link to your blog as this will be good SEO.

My biggest advice is be original. There are a ton of blogs out there. Find a niche even. I think a blog on a small topic is better than one on a wide one that thousands of people already blog about.

Firstly, welcome to the blogging community!!
I can offer you this advice from personal experiences having started mine about 3 months ago.
Firstly, decide on a writing style. Focus on one direction and stick to it. If it's technical offer insights into your particular field of expertise. If it's general try to include content that won't alienate too many people. If it's humerous try and be original.
Work out what your blog pages will look like before you start. Eye catching ones will attract more people than the bog standard ones. Photos or logos are always a good idea to draw people in.
Initially use a free blog site but warn people on the first page they may have to get past pop-ups and ads.
Keep writing! A blog that has one post a month will get a lot less visitors than one offereing new posts every day. Sometimes it's difficult to get motivated after a bad day at the tables but try and stick with it.
Don't expect miracles overnight. It takes time for word to get around but if people enjoy it, they will tell others and pretty soon word will spread. Day One of my blog attracted just 25 visitors...however, I'm now on Day 70 and averaging about 10,0000 hits a day so it does work!
Keep your ear to the ground and take notice of what your readers say on their feedback and comments. It will probably end up steering itself in a direction that you never intended it to when you first started.
The right people in the industry will contact you if they want you to expand the blog to other mediums but be patient and wait for them to call. Bad bloggers get their names spread around the Web just as quickly as good ones.
And most important of all...enjoy yourself!
Blogging can be a really fun way to spend a couple of hours during the day and when you get nice feedback from your readers it makes the effort completely worthwhile. Some people who make their living from writing started their careers with blogs so it can be fun AND lucrative.
Contact me directly if you want a list of sites, servers and add-ons. I'll e-mail you a full list and give you any other advice I can.
I hope this little bit of info helps in some way and really hope you decide to give it a shot.
Best of luck my friend.
