does it really matter if you try to stall the game just to make it to the money?

When it starts going by hand to hand play, stalling is actually a very good strategy to insure that you place in the money. It'll irritate other players, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Of course I'm only talking about when you have a short stack. You could also just sit out and let other players eliminate themselves to help you move up in place.

Um stalling when its hand by hand doesn't really achieve much, the whole point in when people stall is that more hands are played on the other table. That gives them a better chance of someone else busting out, which of course hand by hand play elimiates.

To be honest its rather lame and I can't see there being much value in it. You are just giving the rest of your table less hands as well and they could bust out the more hands that are played.

I would rather double up and have a shot at the bigger money than crawl into small amounts.

If you play just to get in to the Money, That is as far as you will get.

When I see someone stalling on the bubble, I will fire at them every time they are in the linds. The Blinds are high by this point. They will fold every time. Scared to play a hand...Good way to raise your chip stack by picking on the Weak Players.

Scared Money is Dead Money.

Isn't that the point to get into the money? Yes granted being #1 is the Ultimate goal but If you are in the money, you've reached the 1st goal. It is an accomplisment to some even if it was done by stalling. It is the same affect of a Turbo table and the chip leader has a massive lead. Stall so the bllinds go up and the little stacks take big hits while you sit there being chip leader. It is a strategy non-the-less, just like the strategy of going all-in and raising every time before pre-flop. There are advantages and disadvantages to all 3 strategies. It is all part of poker though.

If I'm playing in a satellite tournament in which "x" number of seats to a larger tournament are being awarded, you better believe I'll stall to make the cut. Let's say I'm sitting in 30th position with 40 players remaining and the top 35 move on to the big one. I'm milking that clock big time, baby.

If it pisses off the rest of the table, screw 'em! The guy who's sitting in Top Five position with a cod lock on winning a seat, but keeps pushing chips and raising into the blinds is a far bigger asshole in my book than the guy down at the bottom of the ladder who's just trying to hang on for dear life.

Now, in the context that cash rewards are distributed among the field on a graduating scale from first place down, that's a different story altogether. I agree with the earlier posts about "playing to lose". Slow players in cash tourneys are mooks of the highest order.
