The beginning player in poker can be unsuccessful long time, and even forever remain such so far it will not make any progress. Both level of complexity of a game, and this process not always is also very changeable has temporary dependence. You can earn an annual state only in several hours, and can play month without a break and remain in minus.

Keep in mind that just few percent of people that play have made serious money from poker so it is not that easy. You will need to spend some time to learn and improve your game and after that you can see if you can earn enough money for living from it. Just a few months will not be enough in my opinion.

If you are serious about how to work and spend a lot of time on the game and training, it is certainly possible!

Yes, it is completely possible.

It will require you spend lots of time playing/studying poker though.

You will have peaks and valleys so you will need a big enough bankroll to withstand the lows.

How much you make will be determined by what stakes you play. Most are losing to barely break even players though but making consistent money isn't impossible.

It's very difficult to have a profit playing for your poker money. A very small percentage of players know how to do this. You need a lot to learn. That's why I chose an easier way to make money and play only freerolls. Although it is not big. But I know for sure that I will not lose my money.

It's very hard to make consistent money in poker, but it can be done.

If you do not succeed in 5 years of play, maybe poker is not your game and you should do something else)

$1000 per month would require playing all day at a high win rate.

That's only $5.81 / hour. If you use an average 50 hands per hour you need around 6BB / 100 hands at a basic $1/$2 poker game. Should be do-able online or in casino/poker room without an enormous bankroll.

earnings

aspire to earn a thousand dollars a month is too clear that if you play a long tournament and you do well it may be that if it is easier to aspire to 300 350 10 dollars a day

Very easy to do live playing 1-2 cash, but if you are doing it for a living you will need at least a $5k bank roll for variance.

Playing online, I find that the 6 man double-up SNG's some rooms offer seem to have the least amount of variance for me.

You have to be very strong mentally if you are going to do this for a living, can't get TOO attached to hands and have to understand to either get up or switch tables when someone is clearly outplaying you, don't let it get to your head.

I would suggest good bankroll management. I had the same issue but have been reading of bankroll management and it really helps a lot.

There plenty of building blocks to work on to get that level. Maintaining a bankroll would important. Working up to the necessary stakes would be another. Putting in the time away from the table for education.

There players here at this site who have do it. Lot poker pros out there so not inconceivable. Good luck with this quest.

Making a living at Poker

For me, it's limited to playing for enjoyment. Love the game, the challenges it presents, and learning ways to win. This is a good question. I personally take into consideration the pro players that have done what you are asking. Not too many, or so it seems, are making it on play alone. Otherwise, I would think we would be seeing the same names showing at the top in the majority of tournaments. My experience, I call Ying & Yang. I win, I lose, I start all over again. Been on that track for years. Shucks. Always open to suggestions, no matter how old I am nor how long I have played. Good luck if you plan to give it a whirl! Sounds like a real challenge, with lots of stress to me though.

Hi.
I think it is possible to get a steady income in playing poker.
You need to work patiently and improve your game every day.
Success will come over time.
Good luck.

I haven't quite gotten to that point yet but I believe it's possible. I would imagine you would have to learn a significant amount of patience to do so and minimize your losses

I'm averaging $800/month this year and I'm not full time and mainly play micros so yes it's more than possible.

If you win a big one you could allocate some of the winnings for poker and the rest to live on. But you get what you pay for so you will probably have to risk a semi to high buy in to make money anywhere from 500+ buy in.

Yes, you can earn in poker, but for the constant earnings you need a good bankroll and a very good game skill in order to be able to play poker at good rates or buy expensive tournaments and try to win, but it's better to play the cash game at normal rates and raise the bankroll!

Its certainly possible. I think the 4 main factors are your level of skill willingness to study, bankroll management and playing the proper stakes.
