Does any of you poker players bet on sports? I am a full time sports bettor but getting into poker as hobby since its fun. But I don't think i could ever become a full time poker player sitting on the table 8 hours a day. Wouldn't that be stressful? I mean even if you have an office job, you don't need to focus all the time. With sports betting I spend only few hours a day and now a days even less.

Poker however has something that still pulls you in. Its challenging and interesting and even though i started as a hobby i am tempted to play more. But when i play bigger games, i do well only during the first hour and then i get too lose by losing patience.

I have a friend betting on tennis matches, but that's nothing for me. I did have some free bonus bets from poker stars on sports last year, which I did not use. I'd rather play poker.

I love poker, of course it's a game of patience.
But when you do like playing, hours pass like minutes.
Sporting betting demands a lot of hours to be good. You need to study where to bet, watch the games, the new about your team or player, not easy too.

Once you have all your models ready sports betting only takes few hours a day. And if you follow reliable services like bettingresource its less than 30 minutes a day. There are lots of good info and social media these days including bettingresource's facebook page where they post picks with analysis free.

Sports betting will require a lot of time during at the beginning of each sport season to get your model set but then it shouldn't be as time consuming. Poker on the other hand can be very demanding. I got into poker because i do love it but the problem is that when you play live the games are too slow and when you play online, you have to be pretty much act like a robot and it gets boring fast even when you play multiple tables.

Here is two good picks on tennis from facebook.com/bettingresource

ATP Los Cabos: Santillan +1.5 Sets (2.60) vs Berdych
WTA: Stanford: Day +1.5 Sets (2.35) vs Muguruza

In the berdych/santillan match we will back the young and promising youngster Santillan who plays an aggressive all round game. He has looked terrific in the three matches (2 qualies and the 1st round) in Las Cabos so far and he is yet to drop a set. Now in round 2 he will face a big name in Berdych who arrived in Los Cabos just 36 hours ago after very long delayed trip from Europe--the airline also misplaced his luggage. Berdych has not played since Wimbledon and without any tune on hardcourt he will simply have to rely on his experience to overcome the youngster. Considering the long trip, jet lag and lack of tune up games there is a good chance Berdych will drop at least a set here. Santillan to win first and as well as the match at these big odds also holds good value.
In the Muruguza/Days match we have similar situation as the Bedrych match where Muguruza is coming to Stanford after flying high and winning the trophy in Wimbledon. She has been busy celebrating and attending many sponsorship/media events and this match could be a let down since she will face a very promising youngster Day who has already played a nice 1st round match in these courts. Earlier in the year, Day took a set against Muruguza at Indian Wells and this time she will most likely do it again and might win the match as well. So if you are adventurous you can try the moneyline on top of the +1.5 sets.

I used to sports bet seriously but that was back in the day when it took countless hours a week and that was betting just one sport. I had mild success but as I got busier I couldn't keep up so I stopped. I still bet on sports but now I treat it as gambling and do it for fun.

i think people are able to grind poker for hours at a time because no matter what, its always different. Theres always a different way to play a hand and so many different styles and people to figure out while you are playing. At the end of the day its a game that people wouldnt have gotten so good at if they didnt enjoy it at least a little. That being said, sportsbetting sounds like a ton of fun. I am really into esports, and recently there has been a growing interest in betting on those video games. Won't be long before theres a massive video game betting scandal. Mark my words

Well I'll give you credit, you waited until your third post before you started shilling for a tout service...

For anyone who's newish to the world of sports betting, a word of advice: paying for picks is a terrible idea. Even if the tout does have a legit winning record, it's almost impossible to get money down at the lines and prices they quote, because the market will very quickly move off that line.

But most touts don't even have that winning record - most aren't even that interested in posting winning picks. What they are very good at though is manipulating their results to make it seem like they're winning over a given period.

For me it has been much more lucrative sports bets than poker and I would say that I am good at that, as I am a follower and have extensive knowledge about MLB, NBA, NHL and the main soccer leagues in the world, whenever you want we can exchange picks hehehe

its not a paid pick. the picks that posted are from a facebook page. anyone can see it for free. they post a lot of dogs and you have to play with a good money managements or else you would get wiped out during a downswing.

Yeah, the Facebook page of a service that charges money for picks LOL

It's not provided as a public service. It's marketing.

I also sometimes bet on sports, and poker is a hobby for me, but when I'm playing poker I try to concentrate on the game. If you can not play, try playing spin & go or sit & go.

I regularly bet on mixed martial arts and boxing. But in poker, the victory depends more on your skills.

Are you going to be betting on the Mayweather/McGregor fight?

Funny how you think that poker is stressful because for me it's completely the opposite: I find sports betting really stressful :D In poker I feel like I have much more control over the game when in sports betting I have to rely on others to play the way I would want them to. If they have a bad day, there's nothing I can do. Of course there's luck and especially variance in poker as well but I still feel much more safe playing poker than betting on sports. And you don't need to play long tournaments in poker either, sometimes just couple of hours in a cash game is enough for one day.

Interesting topic really cause there are a lot of similarities between those two, although differences as well. I have been trying to learn to become a better sports bettor but without luck so far. Do you bet singles, doubles etc.? Prefer small odds or find bigger ones? Any advice how to become better in sports betting? Someday I will learn that too ;)

I bet singles and in sports betting you have to play the line value. Often people like to bet the favorite and the most obvious side but even if you win most bets like that you would still lose money because those favorites are inflated lines and the few games that you lose will end up costing you more.

You have to be very selective with the bets and bet only when you find a true edge. Patience and discipline are key. I have few dedicated bankrolls for my sports betting. 1 bankroll for my own picks and few other bankroll for some of the tipsters that I follow.

Now i have allocated a bankroll for poker and I am going to experiment with the same money management that i use in the sports betting to poker because the current money management that I use for sports works really well.
