Sorry I didn't get to this thread earlier.

It's massive news for sure - but the guy was an absolute idiot to step foot in the USA knowing that it's 100% illegal to offer sportsbetting via the phone.

Just to point out - this won't affect Paradise Poker one bit, don't worry - they are safe.

yeah, you have to be careful if you are one of these offshore business people in this industry. I was thinking about depositing onto paradise againg, but this article made me a little weary. Glad to hear the site wont be affected because it is one of the leading sites in the industry I think.

This is getting ridiculous, isn`t it ? As is apparent from the article, this is a perfectly respectable UK company, quoted on the UK Stock Exchange, and carrying on in the UK a business which is licensed and legal in the UK. It seems illogical that the American authorities can claim jurisdiction.

If this stands, does it mean that Iran can prosecute me for allowing my wife to walk around London without a veil ? Or that Korea can sue me for not eating my dog ? Bloody insanity

I agree with your statements Egon, but you must be careful on what you say about other cultures or races. I am South Korean and I am pretty offended on your comments. You probably know nothing about my people and culture so how can you make such comments about them. I dont know where you are from, but I have maturity and a high level of respect for myself and others that I will think before I make comments like that. Please use some judgement next time you want to make such examples or comments.

Apologies, friend. I meant no offence.

I was certainly not trying to denigrate anyone`s culture - just the reverse. I am saying it makes no sense to try and impose your values on other people in other countries.

Easy there guys... :)

Just to let you know, Mr Dicks was released on Bail a few days ago and it seems it was a local arrest warrant, not a Federal one - so I'm not sure this has much/anything to do with the anti-onlinegambling crackdown.

Apology accepted Egon. I knew you meant nothing personall towards Koreans, but I have had to deal with lots of racism in my life and it is a little touchy of a subject for me. I have no problems with you at all and I hope this wont tarnish our reputation of each other.

Thanks Nick for the update. What was the warrant for? Maybe I will deposit on Paradise again then with the recent news.

Too bad you didn't deposit on Paradise Friday night - a glitch in their software meant that not only did I get a 1000 player points for making a $100 deposit, I also got a $50 bonus. :)

This glitch has since been fixed, however.

Not quite sure actually - maybe it was some local law that SportingBet broke.

Your money is completely safe on Paradise, don't worry about that. I have a lot invested there and I'm not worried at all. A company of their size can defend themselves if needs be and they aren't gonna let their company disappear without a fight.
