This came up playing poker at the kitchen table and nearly caused world war 3 in my house.......

We were playing 7 card stud and the hand was over, the winner had collected the pot and my husband wanted to see the 2 cards I didn't play, I said "no" and shoved them into the deck. The question is, do you HAVE to show other players what 2 cards you didn't play? He said if asked you do, does anyone know if this is an actual rule, I've looked online and in rule books and can not seem to find an answer........

Thanks for any help :)

hmmm. ya got me. If you won with the cards everyone could see ..what's the big deal of showing the one's that didn't matter? But, then again, what kind of person wants to know the cards that you didn't play....? As for the actual rule. . . I have no clue at this point.

I don't believe so. The only rule I'm familiar with is that if you show one person at the table your cards, you need to show everyone. But I think that's a typical tournament rule.

...I think if he calls you or you both check on the last card. . . You have to show if you're the winning hand only...unless you like to muck the winning hand. lol

ok, he just walked in and it was the 5 cards that were played that was the winning hand, so if it is the winning hand you do have to show all 7 cards if someone asks? My theory was in 5 card draw you don't have to show the cards or tell what cards you discarded, but I was just thinking out loud.

"With any called hand, you must show all seven cards. Usually, the dealer will turn your cards up if you don't."

You should show all 7 even if you're not asked...

This is from a credible gambling website....and it's also logical.

I believe if he payed to see what you had, he payed for a reason. He already knew u had him beat but wanted to see what you had under and that was maybe all he was paying for so in that sense id say in good character to show. lol but its a family thing that can be rough haha.
