Make of this what you will, it might boost your confidence or make you feel more of a loser then ever before but these are facts.

I looked over my psychological papers from when I was younger, I am apparently in the iq range of 70, I did not believe this, I took an official iq test, I scored 70.

I have recorded over 3000 sit and goes at low stakes I have just under 10% roi but over 10% if you include bonus.

An intelligent monkey has an iq of 69.

What does this mean
it literally means I there are monkeys that are more intelligent then me, great way to boost my self-esteem:(

But it also means that if some monkeys are more intelligent then me that they can logically do what I can do better.

This means literally no exaggeration what so ever that a Monkey could be trained to win at low stakes sit and goes.

just thought would be interesting to hear responses to that.

I.q. tests are like any other test in that if you study hard at it you will get better answers, dont worry about your i.q. People with larger Iq than you cannot even beat the micros. Just keep playing your game and trying to learn if you want or just for fun, it helps when you find poker fun its a big step to getting better in my opinion.

Yeah, don't put too much interest in those tests. In any tests, that is. Just do your thing and see how you can improve it.

Its kind of stressful as I am using it to fund my way through university. So the Down swings can be pretty painful, That been said I do prefer it to working for someone, I make 300ffps a day and am close to supernova now, so that will add a bit to my hourly rate. at the moment I am not earning much over minimum wage on an hourly rate.
I plan to Horde up points as 30k a month adds up and I hope pokerstars continue to offer instant cash bonus every few months or so as cashing in for a few k will be a significant moral boost.

IQ isn't everything but you make an interesting point. I suppose the difficult bit would be training the monkey to use a mouse :p. I have a fairly high IQ according to some tests i've done (don't know how truthful they are) but i'm barely getting to grips with micro's atm. Theres also alot of debate as to wether IQ tests measure intelligence.

Intelligence and knowledge are very different things.

Intelligence has little to do with poker, the math in it is just basic. This shouldnt concern you, pokers all about the experience and thought you put in the game. Some are exceptionally better and some becomes better through time as they learn from their mistakes.

IQ tests measure your ability to learn not how smart you are. My IQ is quite high and i do grasp ideas and concepts easily. But it is not going to help me if i fail to apply.:):):)

i disagree, there's definitely a correlation. the vast majority of the best players out there, both live and online, are very intelligent people.

and i don't think the reason has as much to do with math as you might guess

I just like to keep things simple, pokers mainly about reading your opponents and the calculating the different odds in the game. Something that an average joe can master through time and practice as long as hes not stupid enough to waste lots of money and do things base. Then again a much more intelligent person would excel at a much faster rate but its something that shouldnt change the view of the thread-starter on poker and just have fun with the game instead.

Yeah for sure, most consistant winning players are or seem to be quite smart. There are different kinds of smart as we all know, I wish I was a bit more book smart and less lazy I never had the ability to study properly even in school and college and winged it a bit tbh although I did pretty well I find it hard to study the game, mainly as I have too many distractions. Although having a disability (took ages for me to accept that) which is pretty bad to my body and causes lathargy as side issues doesnt help too much but I can be honest when it comes to study I am lazy.

Of course some people learn better by performing tasks and I watched an interview with a Asian American player (not a uber famous one) who said after a point he just spent whole days grinding away and thats how he learnt the game, bit of a rambling post here but its early in the morning I hardly slept and only on my second tea!

I would get a 2nd opinion. Go to the Mensa site and take their IQ test. It is a much more reliable test than most you will find on the internet.

Come back and tells us the results.
