I dont play live yet but I have seen a lot of poker tv in which someone slow rolls and someone explodes with emotion after the slow roll.

Is it possible to slowroll someone online? and would you really care?

I'll bite. No, I don't think you can really slow roll someone online.

First off, the "classic slow roll" involves someone turning over their cards, thinking they have the winner. As they reach for the chips, the opponent turns over their cards to show the winner.

In every online room I've been in, you don't have an option of whether to turn your cards over if you've been called and are the winner. (In SOME rooms you can muck or show if you're the LOSER, but the winner is automatically shown by the house.)

The closest you can come (in my mind) to a slow roll online is to use all of your clock before calling if you have the nuts. Do I care if someone does that? Not really. Unlike some people online, I can wait 20-30 seconds to see what they do. That's not that much out of my day to let it worry me.

Online slow rolls do happen. I've seen players wait for over a minute exhausting their tournament time bank for a minute + before making a call with the absolute nuts. The worst part was after the show of the nuts was the player said something like, I bet you thought you had it.

Now that's just messed up!

i really hate when a player slowrolls because its an unethical thing to do just like showing your bluff. I cant really understand why a player need to do these kind of things just to take ¨advantage¨. these things will continue happening because some players have a complete lack of morality and will do anything thats legal no matter how unethical it is to tilt other players.

It is possible to slow roll online. I seen the examples given in this thread happen more than once. Does it bother me ... No .. its silly to let anyone online bother you for any reason.

I absolutely hate slow play. Those people who stop for like 2 minutes in their main phase just piss me off. Then they declare attackers and spend even more time tapping and untapping their creatures deciding which ones to attack with.
My turns go like this:
Untap.
Draw.
Shuffle the cards in my hand a couple times and consider my options.
Combat.
Tap the creatures I wish to attack with.
Main phase 2, play a spell if I have one to play.
Pass turn.
If your turns don't look like above, you're doing it wrong. It annoys me to no end when my turn takes a minute or two, and my opponent takes 5 or more. If you slow roll it, and then time is called, I should get twice as many turns as you, since you insisted on wasting my time.
Non-sanctioned casual is a bit different, but 10-15 minute turns are still annoying.

It's really difficult to tell if someone is slow rolling online when they take a lot of time, or are just focusing on another table. Or they have bad internet

Yup- I get slow rolled online more then I like.. I'm sure sometimes it's a connection or multi-tabling scenario. Sometimes people just do it because they are an arse.

It happens quite regularly online, usually from big headed players who think they're the best in the world at poker. When it happens to me I usually make sure I just do it right back to them if and when I get the chance to

No i dont care for that type of play, but sometimes a person will do anything (chat or otherwise) to try and get in your head. And it used to work, but the only results I have ever gotten from tilt play are bad ones.

this

but that doesn't bother me nearly as much as when im slowrolled by the software...on carbon...many times HU when you call a river bet your hand is shown first for some reason then there is a long pause before your opponents winning hand is shown

Would I care? Depends on the stakes and my current bankroll at the time I guess. That has a lot to do with it :) Would I ever do it? No. I just think it's stupid in my opinion.

I love slow rolling, I think you can do it if you have the nuts, like buying some time, 20 or 30 seconds and the other player pays off course.

I hate it live, but I give a pass online. A lot of people are preoccupied with other things.

Yup: slow connection, multi tables, wife asks a question, fixing a sandwich, phone call, dog throwing up on the carpet.... you name it!
