My friend advised me to sleep before the tournament up to 2 hours
What do you think about it?)
I have not tried it yet ...
But perhaps it's true!

i guess that will help, because here in philippines, the FR tourneys start at 3 am, and if i dont have enough sleep and i get deep in the the game, i usually fell asleep while in the game, esp when the 5 minute break is on. And thats the end of my tourney.

Dont do that, unless its necessary. You dont know if youre going to wake up in good mood for playing, and you semi-awakeness can influence your game and your decisions in it.

Many people do not react good to short sleeps especially during the day and they wake up with worse mood than before. You can test that by trying afternoon sleep and see how you will be when you wake up. I personally as a man working on night shifts since 9 years can sleep at whatever time of the day and night and even 30 minutes help me to become fresher than before so if you are like me - go for it. :D

You should be rested. I am not sure you need to sleep right before but each person is different

Well, sometimes that works, but you have to make sure you wake up with enough time to awaken fully before the tourney begins. Otherwise, you will still be groggy, and absolutely no good for playing at your best.

Why go to bed if you are cheerful and feel good? I believe that everything is very individual and what suits one player does not necessarily help the other.

well thats just the thing....if I am really too tired I find I just kind of give up and make stupid moves. Planning ahead to make sure you are well rested would be wise

That's not bad advice, people in general don't get enough sleep, but the best would be to sleep for two hours instead of playing the poker tournament.

I guess being well rested helps but why sleep when you can have coffee!

Resting up is always crucial to having optimal focus in anything. That, combined with adequate exercise and a healthy diet will definitely have you thinking at your best.

I think, it is not a bad idea.
If I see, that I have free time before the tournament, I can sleep for 1-2 hours.

I don't think you need to sleep, but I would advise to be well rested enough to be able to last the entire tournament! This of course depends per person, but personally I need a good night beforehand. If I don't sleep well I get agitated easily, which could potentially result in tilt. I would prefer to play some cash games on those days, so I could stop playing whenever I want.

I know when I am rested I play more disciplined. I sometimes after a short nap during the day am a bit groggy for a while, which would not help. Doesn't hurt to try in a lower stakes game to find out.

I sleep only at night and do not play tournaments that start late and it will be hard for me to play them in a sleepy state.

Not sure about it. What for? Of course,if you are very tired and a rest than you have to sleep. But I guess you won’t be able to sleep if you don’t want to

Last night i had situation when i did not calculate things properly. I started playing both trip to vegas freeroll and casino org 50$ sunday freeroll at 22:00 local time presuming that i will focus on trip to vegas and as it is turbo and not with many people (around 2500) it should be finished in around 2.5 hours. Well i could not get in top 50 of the trip to vegas (finished around 200) but the other freeroll went well. Finally 3.5 hours after the beginning (it was normal mtt and not turbo) i was near top 50 (where they start to pay) but was so tired and started making mistakes that i decided just to sitout and leave it on its own hoping to get to the money.

At the end i finished 49 from 54 paid places and got to the money but the morale here is to not register for MTT if you are not ready to play it to its end.

after sleeping the whole body it takes time to get into the condition especially the mind but it is a good idea to be as good as possible for the beginning of the tournament

it's a good idea, I always do it myself before the game, but only if you are really tired (you have to start the game in optimal condition) !!! to force yourself to fall asleep before the game is not necessary, if you do not want to sleep !!! just relax on the couch before the game to gain strength!

Yes, it's better to have a little sleep before the tournament because then when to play in the evening in a long tournament, then you want to sleep, if you play a small tournament, then you can not sleep and just drink coffee and play a couple of hours, I sleep sometimes in front of a long night tournament, so that later in the middle of the tournament I would not like to sleep!

I think it's not that bad idea at all, but try not to miss the tournament sleeping too long! :D
It's always a better idea to play poker awake and having a good rest before, rather than being tired and sleepy. It's because in first case your brain can concentrate way much better, than in a second. Also i would recommend to plan your poker time well and calculate how many hours about will take your tournament, so that you not find yourself in a trap, where you actually supposed to be in bed, as you have to wake up early next morning, but currently you are running so good and just can't leave your game. It's not good at all and i made this mistake myself pretty often. Always choose to play only those MTTs for which one you have time without struggling not to fall asleep.

But have to add one more thing, don't play poker instantly after you wake up. Let your brain some time to get fully awake and concentrated. Drink your coffee/tee first and read some articles about poker or analyze some poker hands you played before. Tune up yourself for poker game first. It takes about 30-60 minutes, depends on how quickly you are become fully awake. This advice i've read myself in some poker book, unfortunately can't remember at which one.

Sometimes, like today, I get best results when I have slept badly. Then I am aggressive and don't give F if I will lose the whole bankroll. That makes opponents afraid :p

My best day was when I had a terrible hangover
