I was playing a home game the other night and one of the players was feeling tired and went for a nap (he had ben getting no luck at the table all night). Obviously when he was away his blinds were played in turn. However when it got to the last of his chips (he was still away) I believed that the hand played as a side pot that he could still win in his absence. Im certain that when I have played online poker, players who are sitting out have their final hand played and can double up even if they are not present. Am I correct here as it has caused an argument with a friend and would like some clarification.

Is this a cash game or tournament. ? Because if it was a cash games he shouldn't have been posting blinds anyway.

Great question...as I play online I know the rule depends on the site...on stars for example if a sitter is forced all in he doesn't have a chance to stay alive and the sitters hand is folded with 0 chips left and the pot is up for grabs and plays like a normal hand...however on Carbon if a sitter is forced all in they still have a chance to stay alive if they have the best hand at showdown...would defo do some research on this as it is interesting

Thanks trent, I am even more confused now LOL. I only play pokerstars and was sure that's where I had seen the last hand played and the sitter double up!!!

On Stars the sit out player can double up on the last hand. But live it can vary depending on the house rules.

Thanks for that Steve, just so happens that the host was the guy who is challenging this rule. However,;) he was involved with the game at the time (I was out by now) and never challenged the ruling until the guy came back and won the tourney LOL.

That must have been a hell of a comeback to come back and win it after being in the process of blinding out. I guess that's why they say a chip and a chair.

Once I did not sleep for a long time, and I was playing tournament chip leader, but fell asleep, and where it is about 2 hours later woke up, but from my stack remains only 7BB but nothing after 10 minutes I tripled my stack and went on to play in the end I took 4th place)

Stars tournaments if you're sitting out the BB and everyone folds to you, you win the pot, no matter if you're AI or not.
However, if just one player limps while you're sitting out BB, you loose the pot, thus your blind.

house rules are final

but why argue if you aren't involved?

-if I were the host and someone stopped playing I would forfeit his chips..wth...a nap!
