I thought about which section to put this in and I guess it fits here. I joined this forum 4 or 5 weeks ago and started reading through any post I could find. I haven't posted much because I took so much time looking at how good players view every possible situation. I've never been part of a poker forum before and quite honestly have never done much studying on the subject such as books and so forth. I knew the rules of the game and figured that was enough. Dead wrong!

Let me tell you a little bit about my poker back story so you know where I'm going with this.

I played for 4 years and always lost. Don't know the exact amount but it was in the thousands. So I figured I just wasn't that good at the game and quit. After a year and a half I got the itch again to play. This was back in November. Again the losing happened. This time about $800. Getting frustrated again I went looking for help and stumbled across this site. Like I said earlier I read the thought process that winning players went through and started to apply them.

I use a pre-paid CC to deposit for online poker and only had $15 bucks left on it. So I put it on UB just so I could play a couple of $2-$5 tournies. Well with my new look at poker(due to this site) I've gone on a pretty good run. In the past 2 weeks since that $15 deposit I've been able to turn that into $3,400. This is not meant to be a brag, but to point out the power of cardschat. There is no doubt in my mind that I would not have done this if I had not joined here.

So the point being to any new people who would be willing to really put in the study time and listen to what these people are trying to tell you. Sorry if this is long, but just thought it need to be said.

Sounds like your on a heater! So just make sure you look into the meaning of that, and variance before you go and blow it because you might think your unstoppable.

I agree this site is pretty darn fabulous. My skills have also improved immensely (@ a better rate than when I was just reading books) & CC is a major part of my scheduled study time.

Congratulations on your upswing. I joined here myself about the same time as you but I've not been as fortunate. I'm actually on one of the worse downswings I've ever had but that has absolutely zero to do with the fine advice I read on this forum every day.
In fact this forum is helping me get my poker fix in while I take a much needed break from playing.

Yeah that thought has gone through my mind. I've already requested $1,200 back so that it's not a total waste. I'll play within my means and not go crazy.

Hope in your reading you've stumbled on a few BRM topics. Nothing will kill your roll faster than playing outside of it.

This is something that I'm really going to have to watch. Playing below a $20 buy-in now just doesn't hold my interest anymore. Just can't grind out 4 hours to win $70-$100. So if I do start to run bad I'll have to really watch myself. I feel so much more confident in my game and what it takes to be a total play(this includes BRM), so I think I will be fine.
