Chris Ferguson:

  • I'll never buy into a cash game or a Sit & Go with more than 5 percent of my total bankroll (there is an exception for the lowest limits: I'm allowed to buy into any game with a buy-in of $2.50 or less).
  • I won't buy into a multi-table tournament for more than 2 percent of my total bankroll and I'm allowed to buy into any multi-table tournament that costs $1.
Does a 180 person $4.40 sit and go qualify as 5% or 2% (is it a sit and go or a MTT?)

180 is definitely an MTT, any more than ten tables I would say.

does any one know how long it took Chris to reach $1000 or when he started to make some ground. I've been at this for a couple months and the highest I've been is $140 (from $50)

For sure a 2%. That's proper BR managament, very strict. I like to play a little more risky and if you're not grinding them 24/7 but play them just from time to time, you can get it to be like 4-5% but that's just my opinion.

"...on November 26th, 2006, Chris made a major breakthrough. He turned a $1 tournament buy-in into $104 in prize money when he finished second in a 683-player tournament. Even with that huge bankroll boost, it still took Chris nine more months of hard work to reach $10K."

Any one know a link to the whole chart?

Search for Chris Ferguson threads here, there was a link to it in one of the older 2007 or 2008 posts.

If I recall, it took him 9 months of playing micro stakes before he hit that $104 which helped him grow his roll.

Good luck, but just remember...you are not Jesus. :D
