What's a good % for showdowns won? Obviously the higher the better but what percentage should I shooting for?

I shoot for 100%
But usually if I have 50% or better I'm profiting at the table.

It doesn't really matter. The important stat would be, but no one shows it, what your last showdown was.
I was just 100% till the final table, then lost the big one, finishing 4th.

Possibly an important stat is that in 123 hands, I only went to showdown 8 times, losing only the last one.
Saw only 33 flops, (27%) of which at least 10 were checked by me in the bb.
I was playing just like Dorkus was watching.......LOL

I totally disagree. Sure, your showdown win % is not the "end all, be all" stat. But it does give you a good judge of your post-flop hand quality. If you are getting beat at showdown more than not, you usually are losing a lot more money than someone who is folding too much. What I have found is that a poor showdown win % is from either thinking that everyone is bluffing you and being wrong, playing bad kickers when hitting top pair, or ignoring draws on board with your pair.

Jimbo is right. Better than 50% usually shows a profit, unless your loss amounts are bigger than your wins.

I think it depends on if you are talking about ring games or tourneys.
dj11 is more right for tourneys, jimbo and mrsticker are more right for ring games. Of course this is just my opinion on the matter.

Obviously the higher the better

not true. a % that is too high is indicative of overly tight play and shows you may well be folding the best hand too often.

iirc 55-60% is 'optimal'

I do play tourneys, And for the typical mindset of tourneys today, TAG is certainly the way to start a tourney. So yes, perhaps I was being too tight. Funny tho, once things settled down, when I made the big bet, NO ONE CALLED. Till that last hand....

At other times, and with success, I would take hands to showdown with the feeling that I wanted to be loose, and seen as loose, and if the pot was small, I would go into these wanting to look stupid. Does nothing for the stats, but can do wonders for the meta game.

Stats are stats, I have always marveled at how 25% can equal 33%, all because of a Point of View.

I do keep an eye on my stats but mainly to see if I am playing too loose.

I guess if you can minimize your losses than a lower showdown % will work for you but you need to combine this stat with other stats. Does PokerTracker have a stat for $$$ lost per showdown and $$$ won per showdown (not a PT user yet)? I think that would be a very important stat to see if you are picking the right times to stay in a pot or fold.

My showdown percentage is always around %25 which is in my mind where it needs to be. Why in gods name would you want it at %100 you are giving away so much info to the other players at the table.

With a % tht low you are always leaving your opponents guessing about how you are playing which is how i like it

The stats I am talking about are not visable to other players, and it is not something I advertise during play.

They may be available elsewhere, like sharkscope or some such, but for the most part are those not post game/tourney stats?

My post game/tourney stats would be so screwed up anyone paying any attention to them would only get confused. One day I play one way, the next another. It is the biggest leak in my game.

My player rating rules show "Calling Station" as going to showdown over 30% (of course also w low aggression and high vp$ip).

Sub category of "showdown muppet" (icon yellow smiley face): won money at showdown less than 30%

WTSD (Went To Showdown) and W$SD (Won Dollars at Showdown) are not the same stats, aliengenius.
