I play in a small game once a week and I'm just starting out. My dad also plays in it and has been trying to coach me. Whenever I win a hand or fold I always show him my cards so he can tell me if I made the right move. The other players said I can't show him my cards unless I show everyone. Is this true or is it just a rule they think they can make up?

Of course to her father's advice worth considering but you have to play with your head, and the only way you become a good player. Inthis case, you take full responsibility for themselves and not look at the Pope.

Mostly its a house rule.

But sometimes it differs from house to house.

You have to ask the house for consideration maybe since your just a newbie.

We call that rule show one show all.

Hi! As far as I know when the game can not not show the player has played his hand. And in the end if you showed only one of the players and got rid of the cards in the pass it is not considered to be a respect for the other players. Therefore, the dealer who leads the game should warn inappropriate! But every club has its exceptions.

You might consider just trying to remember as many hands as possible, then discuss those hands with your Dad after the game is over so you do not have to reveal your hands to all the other players. Many players at clubs and home games do the same thing.

They're telling the truth. You'll naturally remember some of your big hands from the game. Why not discuss those with your dad at home, and try to outsmart him and the other players at the table.

But despite the advice of his father or drugig persons., Remember that 80% of the poker playing Rolle of professionalism, and 20% luck! It so happens that 20% of luck come more than 80% of professionalism. Frankly I often comes not 20% luck, I gallop casino replayed weak hands. PS I'm sorry, I use a translator if I make mistakes in speaking or writing words is not clear, please correct me where I'm wrong! Thank you!

i think house rules can differ, but at the casinos it's a rule. if you show to one player, you must show to all. lot of noobs at the vegas casinos don't realize that and it's great because that's who i start targeting. new to the live game and not understanding the rules of the felt.

Speaking of showing cards, I remember once a while back @ Turning Stone I was in a tourney and I rivered a set of Aces, a kid lead out and I shoved and he called. I flipped up my aces, and he looked pissed. He showed the guy next to him what he had (a set of something) and I asked... may I see?

He goes "Yeah you can F***ing see!" and flipped the cards over.

Was hilarious.

You have 2 choices: 1. Muck
2. Show everyone
That's it.

Yep , you have to show to all players, showing for just one player can be interpreted by other player as a cheating , and it can be frustrating sometimes in it s 3 way pot and 1 show the cards to just one ...

Hi man !

You either Muck your hand or show to all

I know that your dad is trying to teach you but, rule is the rule

I would recommend not showing as then more advance players can not pick up some tendencies you might have.

Anyway Good Luck @TAbles !

These people have said it right! Show one show all,

One of the main reasons for doing this is because if you were just to show your dad what cards you had, he would know what cards are no longer in the deck and that could influence decisions on later streets!

Show one Show all atleast levels the playing field by everyone at the table knowing what is no longer in the deck!

But like stated earlier in this post, I would suggest learning some starting hands and posistion first and discuss you play afterwards with your dad, and of course your always welcomes to ask questions here so you should be taking off anytime now! Best of luck in your games!
