sharkscope.com is a website that allows you to track SnGs standings for anyone. You can type in a username and instantly see how much some has won or lost under that account on a poker site. You can see a graph of how they have done over time and even see their last 8 results. You get 5 searches a day for free.

How can you take advantage of this free knowledge? I have seen some of the graphs posted here before but how can you take advantage of what they offer?

Does anyone here have a subscription to the site and is it worth the $ to subscribe?

I often wonder too how to use it to your advantage. I'll tell you one thing I've noticed alot. When I play MTT's and I see one player jumping to an early lead with a big stack made by knocking out 2/3 players very early, more often than not this player has bad stats on sharkscope. But what does it mean? That he's loose? A bad player? I don't really know what interpretation to give to it, therefore subscribing is sort of a waste IMO.

Maybe he just flopped the nuts against 3 calling stations, and hes a very good solid player ?

Sites like thepokerdb and sharkscope can give you that sort of info.

I had a subscription for 200 searches i think, but used them quite quick. Mostly I searched my own records as an ego trip. There is a SNG selector which shows you which SNG's are most fish - it will give you an idea of which players are good and which ones are poor (though you cab usually work that out in 5 hands to be honest). Some of the players stats are barely believable - i've seen a number of 5 figure SNG losses, the biggest lost was $60K+. Problem is, the $10 and under ones are free but the games fill up before you can get in, and the $30+ ones cost 3 searches (and fishy as they are, may be out of your roll) with the ones in between costing one search - i would do a search, no decent games, try again a few minutes later - game, but already full, try again, and lose 3 searches for nothing.

It's only $9 though for cheapest one off subscription (with a number of free sign up offers) and you can do lots of searches on players past performance / strengths etc, so i'd recommend having a look if you're nosey like me - i dont think i'll bother paying again though.

So far when I get to heads up in a SnG I peek at the player. See if he is making money or losing and how fast either way. It can give a very vague idea of how good of a player they are. Beyond that I don't know what to get from it.

I have to laugh that I do not see to many that are in the positive. I have done some on the player on this site and they are much better than most I have done that I play against.

From memory, when i play an average 18 player SnG on Stars i'll usually be 3rd or 4th from the top (i'm at7-8% ROI). Top player is usually someone with a very high ROI, but a low number of games played, there are usually 1 or 2 +ROI players below me, then the bottom 11 or 12 are -ROI (with the bottom players being -30%+). You can play differently against the bottom players than you would against the top - it's like a lite version of PokerTracker in that respect.

You can't see bankroll but you can see last 8 finishes, loss/profit for all SnG, ROI at levels played etc.

It is free so I am just trying to use it for what it is worth.
