Did anybody else watch this last night?

I thought it was awful, a SNG which was too fats a pace and mainly all ins so the concept of the shark cage didn't really work!

I just started a thread of my own about it and then found this one. It was a little bizarre. I was quite surprised by the number of name players involved though, Phil Laak, Jennifer Harman. However, on the other side, In the UK there's very little poker shown. We have pokerstars on once a week and the now very ancient Celebrity Poker Club on Challenge once a week. So it's probably best not to complain too much or we may even lose those programs

Yeah we are not blessed here with much poker on TV but i think the concept of the game would be much better as a cash game with antes.... will make more bluffs more multi street pots and missing a round and having to post would hurt you a lot!!

My own thoughts were that it'd be better if it was half and half pros and amateurs. It was a bit cheesy when that amateur blokey won it which left me wondering if it was an episode picked because an amateur won it. Otherwise the final would highly likely just have been made up of pros which I guess kinda misses the point.

I think over anything they haven't utilized the 'shark cage' properly through the structure. An amateur certainly can win in the format they chose which was a very turbo style SNG.

The episode itself did not leave much of a impression on me but maybe because i had high expectations off it.

I would rather watch old shows like "High Stakes poker" or "Poker After Dark".Pokerstars "The Big Game" which was another one which i loved.

But this shark cage really sucks. :icon_puke

So many things are just not appealing. For eg. a player has to press a button before betting the river to let people know if he/she is making a bluff or betting for value. Sometimes the player presses the wrong button while other times he himself does not know what the opposition has so how can he know whether he is bluffing or value betting. It is a distraction for the players and for audiences as well. :thumpdown

The most laughable part was when the guy pressed bluff with QQ as an over pair i mean really?!?! who can stick that in their bluff range if you can then i am jealous of the amount of value hands you have on the river!

Just watched up to episode 4 of this... I was a bit sceptical of it when it first came out as it came across as a bit gimmicky, but they have quite a good selection of players and it can be a fun format when it is used right.

For example, episode 4 was the best so far and had the likes of Ike Haxton, Elky, Antonio Esfandiari and Bill Perkins to liven things up. I think when you look at it from an entertainment perspective and not a poker perspective it is an okay show when given the chance.

Obviously I would still prefer an original High Stakes poker show with no gimmicks and Gabe Kaplan as a commentator, but nothing really compares to that.

I can understand that they're appealing to the general public with this show. And each episode has been better. I'll give it a chance but it wouldn't be something I'd rewatch like HSP or Poker after dark

The only thing that I've learned from the Shark Cage is that Giraffe Onsies are cool...and by saying that... I'm hoping you notice the sarcasm in my typing.

If Pokerstars offered a sng with this format to play online I can see how the program may interest people who play them .... but to me it's just a game I'm never going to play so why bother
